Charlie might stay in Austin... for a year while he's unemployed, collecting money, and regrouping.

Losing to Kansas was the kiss of death.

the dumbness on td is overwhelming this morning. Texas will not come close to sniffing a championship caliber team for the next two years.

I think PairofDucks is saying Chip Brown is only pawn in game of life. Being used by Texas without his knowing to spread distractions.

Texas needs to hire a legit Athletic Director before its Head Coach.

they are doing this backwards.

Steve Patterson was a complete disaster and his effect is still being felt. that is what I love most about this fiasco. Texas fans can be the most arrogant in the country. they said Steve Paterson was the best AD in the country because he was a general manager of an NBA team.
even though he kept jumping jobs in college.

they need to swallow their pride and clean house.

They were talking about this an hour ago on the radio in Houston. They were killing Texas for this, then said "don't be like LSU" saying that they were going to fire Miles but the fans wanted to keep him so he wasn't fired.

They were also saying it's all politics right now and it's embarrassing them.

f Strong stays, it's because coaches are telling Texas no.
There are a lot politics in play which could muddy the coaching waters at UT. UT is seeking permission from UH to open a Houston campus. This could very well play out like LSU last year, when the governor stepped in to squash the deal.

My guess is they don't see the hire they want out there, so they're not going to shake anything up until they have a more secure situation.

Which wasn't right. It was most of the fans that wanted to see him gone, not just because they were tired of him, but also because it would have been proper timing, and fair to everyone.

True, but would it be possible for Texas to keep Strong simply because they don't want to risk taking a chance on someone not named Tom Herman or Nick Saban?

True - they could have had Saban last time if they had been willing to replace the AD and clean house. The money was fine ($10 million for 10 years), but that was Nick's walk away position.

Totally different than LSU. The Texas gov doesn't have a leg to stand on to squash anything.

The boosters took control of the program when they fired Patterson. Perrin, the current AD, is a puppet of the boosters. The only thing standing in the way of the boosters is university president Greg Fenves, and to some degree, the Board of Regents of the University of Texas System.

I would say the housecleaning is progressing as planned.

Perrin has as much actual say so in this decision as the Dr Pepper guy who came up with the idea for the college football playoff.
