It’s hard to judge G5 schools on national stats. How did he rank in conference and against other G5 teams?

I don’t know. I honestly asking.

All the fan smoke seems to be surrounding Raymond, which would make this the hire since BK plays things close to the chest.

not really, Marshall finished 5th and 6th in the Sun Belt Conference for most defensive passing statistics SBC stats The 2022 defense led the SBC in pass defense and turnover margin. 2023 defense definitely took a few steps backwards. Chevis is from Mobile and knows the area for recruiting. I'd have no problem if he were hired. I trust Kelly will make the right choice

Well, these are conference ranks, assuming all teams in their conference play each other and play bigger programs:

Opp. Passing YPG: 6th/14
Opp. Passer Rtg: 5th/14
Opp. TDs: 8th/14
Opp. Compl. %: 4th/14

Its meh but im not sure how good that is compared to their talent. Also outside of the games against Coastal Carolina and NC State their defense overall seemed decent so thats something.

It’s kind of hard to just look at stats for a DB coach. What was the DC’s scheme like? Did he put them in position to succeed? Did the dline get pressure on the QB? Did Marshall lead a lot and made the other offense pass to catch up?

Exactly. Passing yards/game is a terrible way to evaluate DB coaches.
