If Chavis wasn't leaving why would he tell this to just Kelvin Sheppard and not just squash the rumors after talking to Miles at midfield for 5 minutes prior to practice?

What Cauble is reporting (as usual) is NOT adding up. If this rumor had no legs, Chavis or Miles would comment on it directly.

Someone should do a study about how being an LSU fan takes X amount of years off of your lifespan.

from what I understand, some times coaches have discussions before practice about stuff like what to work on, who's injured, plans for a short scrimmage, etc. I'm not a coach, so I don't know for sure, but it seems plausible.

if coaches stopped to address every rumor that had no legs, or crap that is talked about on talk radio or posted on an Internet message board, they'd have no time to practice or recruit.

Fully understand that they don't have to stop every single rumor by making a statement, but this rumor is going and has some legs from several people in the know. I don't think anyone has come out and said its a done deal with the exception of one random poster.

That said, I'd say that its something easy for Miles or Chavis to quickly squash in a presser they had today rather than leaving a player to repeat what he was told.

I fail to see Stevo, where this confirms you were right. We won't know until UGA's DC is announced that anyone is right.

The fact that Sheppard said that Chavis told if he's leaving anywhere, he'll be the first to know, doesn't mean he's staying after the bowl game. Decision MAY not be made yet. Who knows.

I love you trying to pat yourself on the back though.

Yeah the quote in the OP doesn't really provide any insight into the situation. If anything it sounds like Chavis is telling Kelvin that he's thinking about leaving, and if/when he decides to leave Kelvin will be one of the first people he tells.

It's at least consistent with what I was told yesterday. Only Chavis really knows what will happen in the coming weeks. Was just passing along what I knew, and it turns out that it's is backed up by Cauble's report. All I know is that I went up against Apollo Creed and lived to tell about it.

That's my point. I think Sheppard got upset after people probably talked to him about what they were reading on here about Chavis leaving, being unhappy, issues with the coaches, and got upset he'd heard nothing official from Chavis.

He then asked Chavis straight up what is going on. I think Chavis told Sheppard he'd let him know if anything happens and that he's happy here. That doesn't mean he won't leave for another job after the bowl game, and why tell this to Sheppard and not squash these rumors publicly himself.

you accidently left out the part of the quote where Chavis said that he's not going anywhere.

Because he saw the uproar Saban caused when he held a press conference to tell us he wasn't leaaving... and then left.

IF Chavis does leave I can't say that I disapprove of the way he is handling it.

I don't see how you survived "Apollo Creed" here buddy.

1) Belowpar said there was fire to the smoke.

2) He said its looking Chavis might be leaving.

3) You came on and tried to say your source said he was definitely NOT leaving for certain basically.

This lends absolutely nothing either way to your side and in no way contradicts BelowPar's comments.

You are just trying to make yourself look like some badass you're not.

Stevo, as of right now he may not be leaving. I don't think anyone said it was a done deal. Also, that is Sheppard's quote, not Chavis'.

Ezride, I agree. I am not saying Chavis has to come out and squash these rumors. My point is that if he is for sure staying (Saban was obviously mulling this over for a while), he could turn it down or say he's not interested.

That said, none of us will know who is right until UGA hires their new DC officially.

and then some of you whiny-arse, drama queens will be on here proclaiming that our DC tried to leave the sinking ship but wasn't even good enough to be hired by Georgia.

If people bitch about Chavis leaving a sinking ship, its stupid. He may have differences of opinions and friction with Miles (if they even exist, although I have heard they do), but the defense isn't where people should worry right now.

If he's talking to UGA, he's talking to UGA. It doesn't always have to be football related.

If I recall correctly, you basically said, my source is saying he's going no where and I trust my source.

you are a clown for taking this stuff so seriously. I was just doing what Belowpar was doing, passing along what I heard. Belowpar is still the man. That said, I kicked his arse.
