What makes him good? He won 9 games at Vandy but was never of any actual consequence in the division. Those were some lean years in the East and they lost 3 and 4 games in their best seasons. They got to 9 wins against out of conference opponents. Not really that impressive. No one here would be happy with winning 9 games and losing three or four conference games.
At Penn State, he hasn't done jack shite. Lost a rose bowl, won the Big once in 7 and a half years.
Just choked to that pathetic arse Iowa team. Sat there and watched his line commit false start after false start and he just sits there doing nothing. He is a joke. Let USC have him, will be another flop hire by them.

I think Fickell is the best choice

It’s 100% not going to be Aranda.

It’s basically down to one of these four guys. I’m guessing Franklin is the leader from the way CBS reported it.
How many Top 4 lists did Jay Johnson make?

My only fear would be the allure of the NFL
The guy wouldn't have been here, left for Baylor, and come back to LSU if the NFL was his goal.

None! So who are they swinging to the fences for?

People can stop on Aranda. It’s not him.

I hope that's the smokescreen

Woodward is in negotiations with whomever it is, according to sources on TD

It’s strange, because, from the outside, he seems to have the personality to prefer the NFL. But he’s been in coaching long enough and is well respected enough that he could have left and already been in the NFL for years if that’s where he wanted to be. The fact that he hasn’t seems to indicate he prefers college.
I suppose you're right. It's always just been rumors swirling about his preferences, nothing anything concrete (i.e., from his mouth). If the man wants the job, there are few I would choose over him.
It's an exciting time to be LSU fan, regardless. It'll be nice to hire the best person for the job, for a change; I'm more hopeful than ever in that outcome being reached.

Stopped right here because you are clearly uninformed of the context. Aside from Franklin’s TWO 9 win seasons and ranked finishes, Vandy football has won more than 6 games exactly once since the early Reagan administration. That’s nearly 40 years for the kids not in the know. And he did it back to back seasons, that’s monumental at a place like Vandy.
You’re telling me a dude who can do that there can’t win... 11+ at a place like LSU?

3 of 4 meet the qualifications needed. Once hired, any critical comments will be because if one thing too.

Penn State is considered a top school in the country ... what has he won there ? A liberty bowl ? The division once ? Combine a couple stinker seasons in, and he isn't some sure bet despite what everyone here acts like. People act like he has won four division championships ...he hasn't. And the Big is fricking sad, despite what some say. He has two games a year. The rest should be blowouts for a "superstar" coach at Penn State

For the money that aTm is paying Jimbo lsu would have to offer him at least 10 Mil A year for 10 years.
Is Lsu ready to give Jimbo a 10 year 100 Million dollar guaranteed contract. Plus his Assistant's pay as well.
And pay Eaux 17 mil to go Away I guess we will see plus what ever they owe his Assistant's which I'm sure is in the Neighborhood of 4 to 5 Mil
