His base salary this year is less than McMahon’s this season. His overall contract is not big relative to SEC contracts. The SEC is a MUCH stronger conference financially than the ACC. Plus, he’s well entrenched with the donor base here.
NC State wouldn’t just let him walk after a year. But if his former President and AD (who he almost hired as an Assistant Coach at LSU in his first season) are here it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
Some of the same political figures involved in BK’s ouster made a push to get Wade to LSU at the end of last season. The fact that didn’t happen it part of the reason LSU is getting a new President.
