Yeah, he is 2/3 Saban's salary, but just because Bama pays Saban that much doesn't mean Les should get that much since Saban somewhat rebuilt Bama.

saban's salary is egregious. 6 million a year? that is just gross. he is by far the highest paid coach in the ncaa Brown is at 5 mill then stopps then miles.

that is 150g a week or about 1000$ a hour of every hour of every day of every week in the entire year.

Extension for one year = reasonable. I don't think anyone is honestly against Les getting an extension of a year after this season. This would be a season along with last season where he'd deserve to be rolled over. 2008 he didn't.

Bama is disgusting with that pay

But then they will spin shite like it was his dream job and he loves it here and bama is the best job in the country.

Too late Now LSU has to do the same or get left behind

IN summary Les belongs to the Schembechler faction, and Hoke belongs to the Carr faction. Each group wants their guy to be HC.

Coach Carr still does fund-raising for Mott's Children Hospital, and is a favorite of President Mary Sue Coleman. Not only would she have to sign off on the hire, but the board(which has members from both camps).

It is a huge cluster-fruck

LSU should not go anywhere near that salary for Les when departments are being shutdown at the university. Period. If Les can't understand that, he's a very selfish person.

LSU's image could be destroyed if it's shown that they are willing to fire tons of professors and close academic departments but pay a single football coach $5M+/year.

I know football is self-supporting, but as soon as LSU/tAF has to increase fees to the fans, it's going to be even worse of an image.

There is no such thing as LSU/TAF. It is TAF. When the chemistry booster club gets its shite together and gets a loyal contributing prescence you can then make this argument. Until then you should be thankful that the TAF turnsaround and gives money back to the university.

Yeah, I believe they did. Parking fees went up for sure.

It's just not right in my mind to pay a coach $5+ million when the school is shutting down departments, laying off faculty and staff. It shows horrible priorities.

I don't want to get into this argument again, but all the money TAF brings in comes from LSU fans and Alumni. It also takes away money those same people MAY donate to the academic side.

In the end, the priorities vary from person to person. I love LSU football, but I'd rather LSU actually be an academic university worth a shite than a football powerhouse that has alumni who'd rather drop $5k a year on football than helping to improve its academics.

I'd bet the Bama fans think he's worth every penny.
