That apparently Les is upset that LSU is not offering a pay raise and longer contract after another 10 win season and that is why he is entertaining the thought of Michigan.
Someone who claims they "know" someone in athletic department told me that tonight and I am curious if it has any substance.

Guy told me Les was using Michigan as leverage but would seriously take it if LSU did not budge. I just want to know if there is any truth to this from someone who may actually be in the "know" I guess.

so, what does he want? 5mil a year for 10 years? Uh...........no.

Probably another extension making him a Top 3 paid head coach or at least highest paid in SEC.

If by upset you mean using a 11-2 season and the Michigan opening as leverage to try and get more money and or extension then I would say that's a good chance of being true

I guess it would depend of how good of friends he is with Dave. /shrug
If Dave had to move mountains to meet Les' demands, and get him the offer, then is Les willing to do Dave like that.
Remember....Dave will have fought the Carr faction to be able to extend the offer. Having it backfire could cost Brandon his job. They screw this one up not only will his head be on the line, but folks will be calling for the President MSC too.

Yeah 11-2 is a really good season, we got a big win in the Cotton Bowl, he's bringing in another great recruiting class... But, I don't think Miles deserves to be highest paid SEC coach. Maybe with another NC, but not right now.

So winning 1 SEC title, a 2-loss national title = top paid in the SEC or $6 million a year?
If Les is asking for that, I'd straight laugh in his face and tell him to go find another moron to give him that kind of money.
In all honesty though, I seriously doubt he's asking for that type of money.

He is second highest in SEC now that Meyer is out...

Well, he is the 2nd best coach in the SEC now that Meyer is out. He's got the resume to prove it..
At least in regards to negotiations.. he does have some ground to stand on.

If Auburn wins on Monday, he'll be back to 3rd best again behind freaking Chizik.

3.9 this past season... more than I thought he made honestly

Yeah, he is 2/3 Saban's salary, but just because Bama pays Saban that much doesn't mean Les should get that much since Saban somewhat rebuilt Bama.

Did you really just ask me this? Have you bothered reading this section the past couple of days?
I have tried to be forth-coming about our culture, and why things are-the-way-they-are with you guys. Even started a thread about some things I believe last night.
IN summary Les belongs to the Schembechler faction, and Hoke belongs to the Carr faction. Each group wants their guy to be HC.
Coach Carr still does fund-raising for Mott's Children Hospital, and is a favorite of President Mary Sue Coleman. Not only would she have to sign off on the hire, but the board(which has members from both camps).
It is a huge cluster-fruck

yeah but this is coach's salaries in todays sports world. It's not really a matter of what you deserve but what you can get.
Les kind of has LSU btw a rock and hard spot rihgt now. Month before NSD, almost all the hiring is done, not much left out there.
At the least LSU should offer an extension, which since it's guaranteed =more money.
