We can afford it. But it still beckons the question:

Why did alleva placate miles when the Arkansas position was open?

We all knew that he was getting duped. And that is why the 15 million buyout is even discussed at the moment.

It's very simple:

1) Each SEC school is raking in money from the SEC Network.

2) LSU's athletic department is self-sustaining. It doesn't take money from the university, but it actually gives money to the university.

3) As many have mentioned, it's not paid out in a lump sum. Even if it is, I'm sure it could be covered easily.

So the amount of money paid out to Miles and the assistants is an irrelevant part of the discussion when making the decision to fire Miles.

could just keep Miles another year, dump Cam and Peveto, and give it another year. Got a good recruiting class coming in to help shore up the defense. Offense side of the ball doesn't lose much and should be much improved as well. With bigger better players on the D front 7 and clean up the mistakes and poor execution on the offense side of the ball with a better OC and we should be competitive for the SEC title next year.

Don't be a dumbo. I know you have some huge hate towards Cam, but get over it. The offensive looks damn near exactly the same since 2008. Miles is too stubborn and refuses to take his hands out the cookie jar.

Miles has to go.

You do realize at the time before the Ark extension that the buyout was 18.75 million if fired in ANY year of the contract right? And had an automatic rollover right?

The buyout protects LSU if our coach is good.
The buyout protects Miles if he sucks.

Why did he get re-signed for more money, if the cost for arky was to pay 18 mill?

Do you understand that the buyout goes both ways; depending on the success of the coach?

The fear for me is not having to payoff Les, it is where do we get the money if Les replacement has to go...

The LSU athletic department has revenues of 130 million dollars a year and is in the top 6 in the country as far as brining in revenue. In the SEC, LSU only trails Alabama as far a bringing in revenue. The AD and TAF have the money

Big boy football has big boy pants with big coin.

Season ticket sales are at stake... Have you seen the loans we have on Tiger stadium?

Sometimes you have to "invest" or pay off debt to get ahead or back on track..

It's over for miles...everyone knows it's done including Mrs. Miles...It's over will be announced after A&M game has to be...

It's paid out over 8 years. We aren't just handing him a $15mil check.

TAF is also overflowing with money, the Athletic Department is not under the same budget as the school.

You're not going to get anyone better than Les.

Simply put, it's different pots of money. While I agree that it's a ridiculous situation where LSU barely avoids bankruptcy, yet can find this much money to fire/hire a football coach, let's be honest, that's our priorities.

What OC worth a damn will come in knowing he has one year to win, and win big, or else he's looking for another job when Les and the whole staff is let go?

Recruiting wise, this class is already starting to fall apart. Poor performance on the field along with uncertainty for our coaching staff moving forward weighs heavy on these kids and is getting talked about to them by other teams no doubt.

No the answer is to cut ties now and make the hire count.

this is almost as stupid as the frick heads that can't understand that LSU athletics is completely privately funded.

Its not like we can magically find this money, LSU athletics donates assloads back to the school.

anyone that thinks its insane to pay this buyout doesn't understand a few things.
