I love how everyone now prefers Aranda over Riley after one game. Riley was a “white whale” last week on this board. The hire is going to be made based on an entire career worth of work, not simply who wins or loses any given week. Y’all out here changing your mind like the wind. The real takeaway from this game should be that OU will not be in the playoffs now so the chances of getting Lincoln just went up substantially.

Riley would be a good choice but the idea of paying him ~12 mil is kinda crazy

If you could get Dave for ~8 and give him an unlimited budget for OC I think you come out better in the end

Yeah, that's generally how things work on the CCB.

Definitely buy the dip. He wants the hell out of Norman. Alums and fans frustrated and two divas fighting over which should be starting QB! He’ll really get curb stomped in the SEC. We got him.

You think if they pay Riley $12MM that they're suddenly going to make him go cheap on his staff?

Bargain hunting is how we ended up with O

This has been said multiple times. If you’re giving Riley 12 mil, Woodward isn’t going to be like “alright, Well now we’re gonna restrict you from getting a top DC because we don’t wanna pay anymore”. I’ve heard this “cheaper HC to get better Coordinators” before. It hasn’t worked for us. If you’re making a huge commitment with Riley, you’re gonna make sure you get the DC he wants

I’d rather get the coach that fans aren’t frustrated with.

Come home Dave.

yes lets compare Baylor standards to Oklahomas. Makes sense. If Oklahoma lost to TCU last week like Baylor did, they’d lose their shite. Baylor is content just to be competitive

The SEC’s primetime game is going from selling at $55M to $350M in two years.

That difference alone makes up the salary LSU is going to pay its head coach

LSU is just setting the market— the newest team to sign its franchise QB before it’s surpassed the following season

The entire season Baylor has been one of the most disciplined physical teams in college football. That showed today in spades against OU.

Certainly Riley has more skins on the wall, but man I have some questions as to would Aranda be the better fit in BR. It’s not unreasonable.

The only way we come out better in the end is if Aranda wins more than Riley would have. The only thing that matters in “better” is wins. We are LSU dammit. We don’t bargain hunt

The takeaway should be this: Lincoln is still the No. 1 guy but there would be no disappointment in an Aranda hire either. All of the "we want Aranda, Lincoln sucks" people need to put down the pipe.

I prefer both or either.

I just do not want Tucker.

If LSU hired Tucker over Aranda I would be absolutely disgusted.

I would take either one honestly. They’re both great choices.

I get it but the sample size with Aranda is just too small I think. Woodward can't gamble on this hire. I'm not saying he wouldn't hire Aranda, but I'm saying if he is picking between the two he would have to go with Riley because of his record and sustained success. Whether or not that means he picked the right guy...we will only know that answer years from now.
