SE is loyal like a puppy dog! The safe choice will get LSU 8-5 or 9-4 every year. If that's what they want. I'm for at least Gilbert or the Y guy from Okie St.

Also, get an OC that has the rep of developing QB's. Please with sugar on top!

You don't pay 13 million to coaches no longer with us, plus Dave Aranda's new mega deal on top of current coaches salaries to go 8-5 or 9-4 every year and think this is ok....

bump, my guy told me is the Admin has taken notice of the public backlash to Esminger. Not saying any minds have been changed but they will look harder at other names.

They know they have to get it right.

The best offensive coordinator in the country could have been an accomplice in Sandy Hook and Alabama would have hired them without blinking an eye.

Whoever they get, it needs to be a guy that Aranda really wants and the length of his contract needs to match Aranda' s. When they release the name, they need Aranda to speak about it or release a lengthy statement showing that he had a big part in the decision. The fans trust Aranda a hell of a lot more than they trust Alleva and Coach O. It's just the way it is.

Honestly, I disagree. The AD hired the HC. He should allow the HC to hire almost whomever he wants. Let the HC sink or swim. If he makes the wrong hires, then he gets fired.

I'd agree in most cases but not with O because of the expectations made at hiring - below average HC, but loyal local guy who will surround himself with elite coordinators.

O's making $3.5M/per year with about a $9M buyout if he's fired now. I'm sure he'd be very comfortable just working with his friends and settling for 8 wins a year. The AD's job is to hold him accountable. In this case, it would be to push back and say, "there is a large universe of acceptable OCs to select from and you can expect my complete support if you select someone in that universe. However, there are about 3 or 4 deal breakers that would make my position (and yours) untenable. Selecting Ensminger is a deal-breaker. How can I help you secure an elite OC from that large universe? You have incredible resources at your disposal."

See how easy that is?
