No, no it hasn't. He's actually been granted more academic waivers than any coach since Holtz. We've had top ten or top fifteen recruiting classes virtually every year (and almost every year going back twenty years except the Willingham years) with a couple of #1 or #2 classes (2008, 2011, this year until we tanked) thrown in for good measure. We had seven players taken in the first four rounds of the draft last year. We had a 2011 roster - recruited largely by Weis - that had like five future Pro Bowlers and twenty draft picks. Talent is not and has not been Kelly's (or ND's) problem.

Kelly just isn't nearly as good of a coach as some believe. He's 4 - 7 with what, on paper, was a reasonably loaded roster (and a pre-season first round draft pick at QB) this year and hasn't played a single ranked team to date. He has been to as many BCS bowls as Weis and has had two extra years to do it. And his vert stem pass trees get eaten up when you have no serious running game.

If you guys want him, please take him.
