Brian Kelly interview one week ago addressing USC rumors

Pay close attention (2 minute video) to how he responded and how his body language changes between talking about the playoffs and talking about leaving. Particularly with the part about smokescreens and not looking where you should be looking. He also misused the Tomlin quote, Tomlin said "there isn't a booster with a big enough checkbook". Kelly left that door open and deflected it by talking about his wife. He knew one week ago that this was happening, which further negates that Lincoln was ever a consideration

Woodward, Kelly, Riley, and the agent pulled this off masterfully. Everybody got what they wanted except for ND and USC.

I'm no USC fan, but surely you understand that the amount of top talent in the state of Nebraska is like 2% of what it is in California?

Lincoln Riley’s teams have consistently gotten worse, year by year, since 2017.
He’s never had to build a program. Ever.

You’re making my point for me. CBK is a stop gap coach as LSU. He will do a good job for you for as long as he lasts. Nothing is guaranteed but if he fulfills his potential, Riley will wake up the echoes at USC and restore it to the national powerhouse it should be. It’s a pretty big deal for us.

Maybe you feel that way in the pac12 but we dodged a bullet. He was too scared to be in the SEC so he took the easy path and went to USC. It's a smart move for him but I'll take CBK over Riley because he isn't a scared coach.

He wanted the USC job, they chose Riley. Kelly became available.

Kelly was offered the USC job. Turned it down. USC did okay, but LSU got their and USC's first choice. I don't know what you want me to say.
Perhaps this is the best situation for both, I don't know, but I do know that I had reservations about Riley to LSU. I don't have those with Kelly.
