i'll agree they will list him as a candidate, but come on

either way, we are arguing over something not really relevant

you think he is a candidate, i don't...regardless of what UM says....just agree to disagree there

bottom line to me is, peterson and kelly both have drawbacks

peterson-lacks experience at that position
kelly-seems to be looking at the nfl with very eager eyes

both are winners, (although peterson has done os on a bigger stage) and i think them along with numerous others are all very very close and how they interview would be HUGE

do we see now that kelly's name is being used in the search for the michigan coach?

Gotcha, but comparing resumes, I think Johnson clearly has the advatage over Kelly and Peterson.

yes, HIS NAME IS BEING USED

you said it perfectly

they will also probably add to that list of candidates by the time they start negotiating miles' contract

now can we move on?

I'm actually ok that he has goals of going to the NFL. Actually a guy who wants to settle and not want a bigger and better challenge scares me. Besides if he goes to the NFL, that means he won a NC here. The NFL "usually" plucks the coach of the year National Championship winning coaches. Kelly want to win. That's a HUGE plus in my book.

We need to look forward to where we want to be in 10 years not back where we were 5-7 years ago.

Kelly will be a great coach somewhere. Why not with us?

and i am okay with hiring a guy who may be the corwn jewel of this class (peterson) even if it might be a little before his time....ALOT would come down to how they intveriewed

What makes Peterson the crown jewel? I just question his motoviation ('cause I don't know) and his experience.

i am not sure that he is....i think they are all really close, I just think he has the most potential at the college level right now to be successful for a long time

this is what i posted earlier

quote:

he has played (and won) some big time pressure games and has done so as a favorite, as an underdog and done so after he loses his starting qb....boise didn't really lose any ground this year

there is something about his attitude towards his players and they way they talk about him...his approach to playcalling, how in touch he is with his players (going for the 2 pt conversion in fiesta bowl) and his innovative thinking on offense that makes me think #1 he is a college guy first and foremost (i don't see any nfl threats) and #2 he is not afraid the tough call

alot of the same qualities that has made miles so great with a more wide open approach to offensive play calling all game, not just on 4th downs

Can't disagree. Maybe we hire Kelly and he wins a MNC in 2009, leaves to coach the Seattle Seahawks and we bring in Peterson at that point.
