Isn't Dan Hawkins the mad scientest behind the growth of Boise State?

Johnson has done a great job, but I like Kelly way better. I think he's a really good coach and has that "it" factor that other coaches don't have. I have to admit, I don't know much about Peterson except that he helped build the Boise program, but I'm worried about his ability to recruit? just don't know.

the peterson fans do realize that he is not the coach that made boise good right? that man would be at colorado now. actually since peterson took over they have gotten worse. so why do people like peterson?

Jared Zabransky's was pretty good for that team. He provided leadership. They weren't gonna be as good this year as a result. Oh and BTW, Peterson has been at Boise St. step by step with Hawkins.

And please give up the Kelly schtick, its getting old now.

well it's the same as LSU is good because of where saban left them. that's was peterson's first year, and boise was already good.

i didn't like utah coaches before urban meyer

honestly, i think it is too early for peterson...i just think if we are going to look at kelly that hard and REALLY consider him, we must consider peterson as well

meyer had a pedigree before utah hired him, peterson doesn't have that yet even though most believe he has been behind the growth of boise's program

Couldnt have said it any better.

Im not really sure about Utah before Urban Meyer, but Boise has been running the same system since before Houston Nutt. The coaches that have moved on have trouble adapting the same system that was successful Boise seems like a glorified Evangel.

so if kelly is getting old then so is saban, spurrier, del rio, peterson, cowher, and all the rest right. because the are all supposed to be possibilities, and don't think that kelly isn't good enough for LSU to know about him

I agree, Peterson has helped Hawkins turn that program into something. I remember when they beat Oregon in a bowl about four years ago. That Offensive was impressive.

Serious question lsugolf: What makes Peterson so special? Just wondering

Personally I think he just needs more experience as a head coach. A few more years and he may be ready to take over a big time program.

why is boise getting worse now.

we are talking about consistently winning as a head coach wherever you go so how some people can say that peterson and others are better than kelly is beyond me. kelly may not be the best out there, but to deny his success is stupidity. no offense to anyone

Im not "endorsing" Peterson. Im just saying he is as good of a candidate as Kelly, minus the actual head coaching experience.

i didn't see anyone denying his success, just saying if you are going to go that route for a head coach there are numerous other guys that have to come into question and to say that Kelly is head and shoulders above any of them is ludacris....if he was...arkansas would already be all over him right?

honestly who cares about people's specualation as to who was the brains. i guess the past few years if you take out this year, the bo pelini should be our next coach because. i guess miles does nothing and this year the credit should go to crowton. maybe crowton should be the next LSU HC. people ask for a proven head coach. a proven HC means a proven winner at HC. in that respect kelly is the better man for the job atleast for now.

exactly...and there are other guys you can throw into this mix

more than 1 may turn out to be great BUT to say Kelly is the cream of that crop is silly

did i say he was the cream of the crop? as far as winning as a head coach, i wouldn't disagree with someone that made that statement though.

Dan Hawkins at Boise:

2002: 12-1
2003: 13-1
2004: 11-1
2005: 9-4

Christ Peterson:
2006: 13-0 BCS Bowl victory
2007: 10-2

Boise getting worse?

I think that's the kicker, is Kelly's head coaching experience and that he has won championships, albeit Div 1AA.

I really believe Kelly is what Meyer or Spurrier was before getting to Florida. He's worked his way up from lower programs and turned them around no less like Spurrier. Meyer's inherited underachieving programs. That to me speaks volumes about his ability and drive.
