I don't think he has the temperament to deal with college age kids, I think he wants back in the NFL

Carolina is going cheap by its' ownership. Hoping to get lucky and not willing to spend on big time hire or keep or recruit big time free agents. Been moving that direction last three years.

As a Ravens fan, I have mixed feelings about him. He did a great job early on in his tenure turning around the Ravens. They were absolute dogshit before he got here and he turned them into SB champions within two years. However, . They often look unprepared and were heavily penalized on offense because he doesn't like his teams practicing a whole lot throughout the week to keep them fresh as the season goes along ala Bill Walsh. Difference is Bill Walsh had Joe Montana as his QB. The Ravens had Tony Banks, Trent Dilfer, Kyle Boller and Anthony Wright. They needed more reps. I never gave him grief for not being able to develop QBs since he had nothing to work with but at the time he had nothing to work with because he never gave himself much to work with. He's a decent gameday coach but a terrible evaluator of QB talent. Billick would do a great job if he was hired by an underachieving team with a lot of talent and an established QB in place. He would be a terrific hire for a team like the Houston Texans or San Diego Chargers when they decide to get rid of their head coaches. Also, I have to say this about Billick. He's a very keen evaluator of coaching talent. The moment he got here, he retained Marvin Lewis as the defensive coordinator from Marchibroda's staff even though the Ravens defense had been mediocre to flat out bad for the previous three years. His 2000 Super Bowl staff included current head coaches such as Marvin Lewis, Jack Del Rio, Rex Ryan and Mike Smith. He hired Mike Nolan as the Ravens WRs coach in 2001. Even though the move was risky, it was a pretty savvy move as coaching insurance in case Marvin Lewis leaves to become a HC. He hired David Shaw who's been a terrific offensive coordinator for Jim Harbaugh at Stanford. On the flip side, he did keep Matt Cavanaugh around for five years. That was an enormous mistake.
