The only NFL coach I believe could be a possibility is Del Rio, because he apparently expressed interest last go around. There is money in college football and the chances are greater you can control your destiny in college football.

I loved Saban. He was my homeboy, but in my opinion, he's not our guy in 2008.

And LSU is a good job with a lot of resources, but at the same time, I don't think just anyone can come here and win. I don't.

Dantonio is a tough guy people could like.

Burgess Meredeth, with Burt Young and Carl Weathers as co-coordinators, would be lethal.

That is also my sentiment...it doesn't need to be a big name...

The program does not. The fanbase does.

Alot of fans, at least on here, do. He's gotta be a "sexy" hire. Alot of guys want a proven winner, and there is nothing wrong with that....you know what you're getting with a lot of guys.

I'm curious as to who gets hired and if they don't like the hire, will they jack up the expectations to where no matter what he does he'll never win with them. I think some fans would honestly rather a coach fail who they don't like than them give him a chance.

I really like Greg Schiano and I know he turned down the U and did not have quite the year he did last year but I really like hte way he coaches. Lots of energy and his defenses are agressive.

Louisville hung 41 on his defense last night when Rutgers had a big lead. He has lost some luster IMO.

I think that Mike Leach wouldn't be that bad of a hire. Use the RB's we have as receivers and runners, use screen passes, and some trick plays and I think we have an unstoppable offense. We would just have to hope he hires a good DC and then we would be a pretty damn good team and most likely always in a Jan 1 or BCS bowl.

I like Leach. He's a riot. But, you don't want him as our coach. He's crazy.

I realize that but he is at Rutgers and although they have built him some very nice facilities, its still Rutgers.

That is why I am burnt out on those mid tier Big 12 coaches. They are all weird. Look at all of them, look at Miles. Somehting about mid level Big 12 schools they have peculiar coaches.

I don't know about that. A guy like Leach with a DC the calibar of Muschamp could add up to a pretty good team. We all know LSU has the talent.

If you like 7-4 seasons with losses to Auburn, Bama, Florida and Arkansas every year, hire Leach. But you will be able to beat ULM, MTSU by 70.

So you're saying if we hire Leach he will come in and make us JUST LIKE TEXAS TECH? There will be no discernable talent difference or difference in style of play? And we will achieve the exact same results?

That's insane.

I agree. Leach is smart enough to adapt to his talent and his conference. Rocket, I know he's crazy, but man it'd be fun watching his pressers for a few years. Not to mention his offense.

Maybe, but his defense held Alabama to 13 points and lost.....It would be fun to watch I agree. Just not sure it would work week in and week out.

Mike will lose 3-4 every year. And yes his team did score 10 pts. against Bama. In his last 7 years hes 52-30.

Oh, Leach/Air Raid Ball at LSU would be a riot...and he might be successful here...I'd just hope he'd be more than willing to adapt his offense some and stay with the ground game with Scott, Williams, and Murphy.

I am just curious as to why he's still as T. Tech..... ijust don't know about him.

You're right, Rocket. Look at the last two guys - both were pretty sexy among the people that really knew (ADs, other coaches), but certainly not big names, proven winners. A few people remembered the WVMD because a Dinardo-led LSU squad beat your former homeboy's Spartans in the Independence Bowl, but other than that, most pre-Rantards were far more familiar with Lou Saban, rather than the other guy

I agree a capable coach (and decent recruiter)could win consistently here (see Les Miles)- but a big name, proven winner would have us in position to contend for the NC every year.

IMO.....a coach like Les Miles if he keeps the consistency odds are he competes for the NC at least every 3-5 years!
That is much better then 98% of all 1-A football schools in the country....I'll take that any day!

Da Nerdo is not a big name and wouldn't require big bucks. Just sayin.
