I think the $100 bet is only good as of now and it could go down to $20 if the UT job becomes open so if you would take the bet right now to win big or to lose big too.

Herman to Texas is still the most likely scenario. Has been his dream job from the beginning. It's trending downward as of recent though. And by recent I mean the past week or so. Anything pro-LSU before that was for leverage.

He is as content with his surroundings at UH than any coach could be at any job. Relationships with AD/Alumni backing/loves city, but is starting to understand the reality of his situation and the politics behind it.

It's now or never for him.

I don't have much confidence in Alleva at the moment. Will Herman be his top choice? Do we settle with a Jimbo? Can he put his pride/negotiation tactics behind and build a relationship with Herman similar to what he has at UH?

Urban Meyer's dream job was Notre Dame. When he went to Florida in 2005, do you know what other job was available? Think Herman would ask Meyer for advice about dream jobs? My point is that there are a lot of factors for these guys to consider when they have choices, and dream job isn't anywhere near the top.

I am a huge proponent of the Meyer/Herman Notre Dame/Texas parallel, but the situations aren't entirely equivalent. Choosing between South Bend and Gainesville, two similarly situated cities, is different than choosing between Austin and Baton Rouge; especially so given Herman's affinity to the state of Texas in general.

When comparing Florida to Notre Dame in modern college football, Florida trumps Notre Dame when talking about natural resources with the SEC and a hotbed of recruiting. The Texas/LSU dilemma in that regard is not as equally skewed to LSU's favor; those factors are most likely a wash. I get what you're saying, but the Florida v. Notre Dame decision was a little easier than a hypothetical LSU v. Texas decision.

ONLY if Texas becomes available and Herman has to choose between the two.

guess time will tell if that happens, with strong calling the defense and his offense clicking, he might make a strong run to save his job..

i have to agree, i also agree to an extent with the poster below you as well. Although I wouldnt put Notre Dame and Texas together both have high academic standards and texas besides vince young really hasnt done much in the last 20 years.. i think its a harder job than most think because of its alumni and boosters with titantic size egos

Charlie was a promising head coach. Texas is impatient with him and firing him before he gets a chance to build his own team. Not to mention, they aren't built to win and they are in a failing conference. If the money is equal, why would anyone realistically choose Texas?

Here we are built to immediately win, have patience, will hire anyone he wants, and we are in the motherfricking SEC. Not to mention this school recruits itself.

i heard this on sunday, it was the only thing even remotely close that could keep Herman in Houston because of the $5 million dollar payday, he will sign a contract with LSU, i bet anyone on here $100 he does. 5 year, 5.2 million per year.. and he keeps Aranda, heard it here first.. Hermans Agent told Texas boosters to go in a different direction. Herman will be at LSU.. book it... Texas is now gauging interest in Chip Kelly for 49ers.
