Do you search “Napier” every 5 minutes to route you to any post about him so that you can go rip him?

Have you given him one ounce of credit? What do you know about him outside of the lazy takes you bring constantly?

There have been multiple SEC schools over the last few years who’ve been interested in Napier. He’s not some new hot coach.

Who’s your guy? This has been asked several times, I’ve yet to see your favorite so we can have honest debate, not one-sided BS.

Did Napier not offer your son, or something? Did he tip your cows? Where’s the targeted disdain come from?

Funny didn’t we have 2019 season and look at what has happened now… crazy how things change in 5 years or 2 years. I think it’s funny you consider 2013 and 2014 9 win seasons for someone that took over in 2019, considering those signed those years would be RS seniors or gone by then. Your hatred for Napier is noted. Personally, he’s not my top choice. The question was in the original post… who is the best recruiter. You failed to answer… for the 5 time.

As for Aranda I don’t have data considering it’s his second year, but first real college year. He’s wild card.

recruiting is way over rated, when you win the players want to come there, that is what recruits players. they dont come because some rah rah speech a coach gives them, at least not the top talent.

This is a point that beats repeating. I’ve seen few people say Napier is their #1 choice. But there are those of us who know more about him as a coach than the information on his wiki page.

Would Riley be a home run? Abso-freaking-lutely! I’d be pumped. And even he has question marks. Less than some mentioned, but they exist.

Napier’s a good choice in many folks’ minds if he ends up at LSU. How likely is a Riley? Not very IMO. Napier is more likely. It’s just not common historically that a blue blood steals another blue blood’s coach.

In 2016 a program on much more solid footing didn’t draw the type of coaches some think are lining up outside of Woodward’s office. Granted Alleva was in charge then. Maybe Saban wanted the job then, and Alleva said “no”. We may never know.

But some need to come to the reality that it takes 2 to tango. Just because we as fans think LSU is the place to be, things don’t actually play out as we think they should.

It’s annoying how people fixate on someone like Riley without looking at the whole picture. I think it would be cool to get a Hard Knocks like series into the hiring process, but that’ll never happen.

Riley- Does not recruit defensive talent. Has never had a Top 5 recruiting class at OU. Poor roster management if you look at who he signed and who stayed. Produces NFL QB’s and Lamb… that’s about it.

I've been looking at Bob Stoops in relation to Lincoln Riley lately, specifically in terms of recruiting and defense.

Bob Stoops last 5 recruiting classes ranked 19th, 15th, 14th, 16th, and 12th. So around 15th on average.

Bob Stoops last 5 defenses ranked (in defensive efficiency) 57th, 9th, 31st, 25th, 23rd. So about 29th.

Definitely not lighting the world on fire in either instance, so I think the true question is, is it a Lincoln Riley problem? Or is it an Oklahoma problem?

I think it’s an Oklahoma problem

OU relies almost entirely on Texas for recruiting, specifically DL recruiting. Texas despite being shitty has still recruited well under Herman and Sarkisian and A&M has been a recruiting monster. Not to mention LSU, Ohio State, and Alabama picking off players too.

I think the biggest glare here is that if you get smacked around like they have defensively and you know your weakness, you try your hardest to fix it recruiting wise and it hasn’t been fixed for over 4 years now. They’ve only had 7 defensive players drafted since 2017…

Love the data you pulled.

to mention Napier, Tucker, Aranda, and even Kiffin is a waist of time because they are not coming.
All in all, Jimbo is the better recruiter....period

What makes it different than other coaches recruiting models? Go get the best players to come to your school? Saban and Alabama don't need any special strategy to draw in talent at this point. No one cares who Billy Napier from the sun belt is.

Your NDS is showing again sir

But, keep it up because Woody may be reading and you just might save the day!

Just based on 2022 recruiting class
Take it for what it's worth

Jimbo 6th
Riley 8th
Tucker 17th
Aranda 33rd
Napier 69th

If Napier was at a power 5 school...probably would be higher

Easily Lane Kiffin. As Lane Kiffin is in the same league with Ed O.
