He has previously indicated he would only interview for jobs he wants to take.

This would be a great fit

Ben Johnson former UNC QB who apparently loves Drake Maye

I’m a bit concerned this is all a sham for Vrabel who interviews the day prior, but I think if it were Johnson wouldn’t be taking the interview

Wouldn’t be mad at either option

What I have heard is that Johnson would only interview for jobs that would be offered to him and that he would intend on taking when officially offered...

I'm sure you've heard, Pats beat writers claiming Krafts wants this wrapped up by weeks end. Get Vrabel and Johnson in back to back interviews Thursday and Friday - See which one is more impressive and Bob's your uncle.

I'm holding out hope that they are giving Johnson a true shot at the job and not just interviewing the hot OC candidate to turn around and give the job to Vrabel.

I like Vrabel but I think the Pats need an offensive minded HC.

Yeah I’m cool with that plan if it’s actually a real plan to get between those two candidates

Given Vrabel is in person and Johnson has to be virtual, it’s gonna be easy to see it as a sham process if they go Vrabel, especially if they just do it by weekends end

Hard to imagine them hiring another rookie HC and a complete outsider (something they hate doing) without meeting him in person. So if the job gets wrapped up this weekend, then it’s Vrabel and it’s been wrapped up for weeks

If it extends passed that or Vrabel ends up taking a different job, think that would lead you to think Johnson is the pick for the Pats

must be nice to a patriots fan. ultimate dynasty for almost 2 decades, suck for just a few years, get set up with the franchise cornerstone in Maye, and now you get to handpick if you want a proven commodity in Vrabel or Ben Johnson who is the next sean payton.

i hope you guys enjoy it and don't take for granted how lucky you are. being a saints fan sucks.

I can't remember the last coach that had this many parameters in place to take a job. It's kinda wild.

Ben will get fired one day and be begging for someone like the raiders to hire him.

Well now he’s up to 3 jobs that he would intend on taking if offered and maybe a 4th as raiders reports are conflicting

Saints and Jets just REALLY suck I guess

Yeah feels like he’ll still be picky on where he lands but doesn’t sound like he’s against hearing the pitch from most of the open jobs

Report today that the pats are open to being blown away in their interview today, but all signs still point to Vrabel

Vrabel can sign at any time and can meet in person and already has deep connection there, so a huge leg up on Johnson as a candidate who can only meet virtually for the next few weeks and is a total outsider (and reportedly pretty abrasive in these interviews). Just seems like a long shot that they end up landing on Johnson, even if I think that’s the better move to support Maye.

He also bailed on the commanders super late in the process last year so Kraft probably isn’t going to wait around to hire him and potentially lose out on him and Vrabel

Yeah, I’d pump the brakes on this Maye is the franchise talk. They were very enamored with Opie from Alabama after his first year, and look how that turned out.
Let’s give Maye 2-3 years minimum before declaring NE has that position secured for a decade.

It’s a projection, but a promising one given what he showed with literally dogshit all around him. He seemed far ahead of the curve on fixing some of the issues he had with his footwork in college. Needs to dial back the turnovers but the concern is certainly more about the pats making sure they put enough around him than it is whether he is the franchise
