It sounds like baker is most likely going to get the job.

my thought as well. I want Tulane to keep on the upward trajectory but I feel like Baker could be an SEC head coach in 2 years. Tulane seems like a step backwards IMO. Either way, I hope the best for him and Tulane.

LSU will offer Baker a raise, and remind him that he'll have all the resources he needs, and more offensive support than he's ever had. Win big with Lane for a year or two, and land a top power 4 job. Skip the middle man.

If that doesn't work, Lane will probably call Durkin, who just got rejected at Auburn for the head job, and who was co-DC under Kiffin in his first two years in Oxford.

How come?

Because in an era of the running quarterback, Baker might be the worst DC in college football against a running QB. Last year, he couldn't stop a simple zone read against A&M. One of the best against pocket passers, but the worst against runners.

Golesh would be foolish. He has a good DC in the program and the players know the system. Golesh is an offensive mind, great pairing. Similar to our situation if Baker stays.

Why did they part ways?

If he went to Tulane and kept things rolling he would be in better position to get a HC job in the SEC. I mean look at Sumrall. He likely would make similar to what he is making at LSU but he would show that he can run a program.

I told you all yesterday, Baker will be the next Tulane head coach. I wasn’t making it up.

A&M money-whipped him. I don’t think he and Kiffin parted on bad terms, but Kiffin did complain about being outspent.

Durkin may wind up somewhere like memphis, UAB, USF etc. Those are some good schools to build up top another big HC gig. There are so many openings and probably a few more coming

Career minded Baker will be very tempted to go HC.

Dog Baker may want to stick around another year or so to be a part of something big, and will always have comparable opportunities then or even better.

if only there were, i dunno, some sort of precedent for a Tulane coach to do well and then get an SEC job...

And Tulane will offer him 3.5 a year probably. It's his Alma mater. He is going to Tulane if they offer.

And if Tulane wasn't open I don't see a bunch of teams knocking down baker's door to be a head coach. Tulane is a very nice job.

Its a top 5 G5 job now for sure. Build an on campus stadium which has brought solid crowds by g5 standards. I would guess they also have one of the better G5 NIL budgets and the NOLA aspect helps recruiting.
