Auburn Coaching Search Is not going well

Auburn made the decision to fire Gus after the loss to A&M if they could find the right coach.
1st call went to Meyer, he said thanks but no thanks. He is waiting for the USC job to open up.
2nd call went to Stoops, another thanks but no thanks.
Cristobal was the next call. He was very interested in the job. He has been wanting to come back toward the south.
A deal was in place for Cristobal to take the Auburn job. Auburn fires Gus believing Cristobal is wrapped up. The hiring was supposed to be announced last night so Cristobal could get started recruiting for Auburn.
Phil Knight calls Cristobal at the last minute and changes Cristobal's mind and Oregon is about to sign Cristobal to a long term contract.
Auburn is scrambling now. Kiffin and Sarkisian have told them no this morning. Freeze has never been a option, too much NCAA baggage.
A lot of pressure on Auburn to hire someone quickly due to signing day on Wednesday. The big money power players at Auburn want Steele. Steele has supposedly told Auburn he is bringing in a big name OC.
Auburn in talks with Napier, but they may go with Steele.

NCAA baggage is called "resume building" and "proof of concept" at Auburn. If Freeze isn't the new coach, it's just because he said no.
