How do u know that a booster didn't know that and relayed his opinion based on what he's heard ? There sure isn't any smoke on Herman like their is on jimbo and O. And many insiders are hearing noise on those two. I'm starting to feel like Herman isn't going any further east than Texas. I think he will either stay at UH or go to Texas or maybe Oregon

I'm sorry. What smoke? What insider? I personally know members of the media, and coaches on staff. They don't know anything. The rumor mill freaking pathetic. The rumor mill is a big azz machine!

I hope that it is true and that he is out of the running. IF the rationale for hiring Tom Herman was that we want a proven coach, I still don't see where Herman is any better than what we already have. He's done ok, but he's dropped games this season against teams that they should have beaten and strikes me as another Sumlin. Do not want.

For me, if they aren't bringing in Jimbo, then Coach O is the man. They can GTFO with that Fedora talk.

It's all still speculation, even with the unofficial contacts being made (they're occurring, but it's speculatory at this point).

That said,
quote:

I don't think the media, or any coach on staff outside of Aranda, will be given updates until it's done. Aranda might, to keep him onboard as DC.

Jimbo makes perfect sense; he was probably the target last year, and the reason they went ahead so quickly this season with the firing. Someone "knew" he would take it if the job opened.
I don't think Herman was that high on the list, his name really only jumped after they beat Oklahoma this season. Prior to that, he wouldn't have been someone you'd fire Miles (or, for example, Bob Stoops) mid-season to get.

The only established bigtime offensive guys (which is what is wanted) that you'd do a midseason fire to get, would be Jimbo, Urban (not happening), or Petrino (and he's not the choice because he's a dick).

I think after Wisconsin, the inquiry was sent to Jimbo's agent, and we moved as soon as we could (the Auburn loss). Jimbo had to have said yes, or else you'd risk blowing up the program completely ... i.e. giving the keys to Orgeron permanently, or hiring an unestablished risk.

No he's not lol

LSU is not a stepping stone

What is wrong with you people

Their defensive is absolute crap and far worse rebuild

LSU is established and far better place

People just always say Texas but Herman might not want that type of rebuild and even more pressure

Well she would just love Westlake or Tarrytown. Like the epitome of Texas snob scene. Wealthy hipsters in Tarrytown are the worst. I live in south Austin off of Barton Skyway along the green belt and stay on my side of town minus the few times a month I go to North Austin.

You're putting words in my mouth. I never said LSU wasn't a destination type job, but that doesn't mean a coach wouldn't use it as a stepping stone to get to the college he wants to be at.

Some of you tend to take more out of posts and exaggerate far more than what the OP intended. If the Herman fans had really been following without their 'Herman to LSU' blinders on they'd been able to see that for quite some time now.

Thank God our admin can see that Herman most likely never intended to stay at LSU more than a few years if he was hired.

I am not in the my source is bigger than yours crowd, but she posted on The Times Picayune article I linked and said Herman is not interested. She supported my fisher perspective. I never questioned it again because I know her dad. Won't say who her dad is but I would offline.

Some of these posters just can't accept it and move on. It's a blessing in disguise anyway. Alleva should be focusing primarily on Jimbo, a coach that will stay here as long as he can beyond the shadow of a doubt.

In terms of total money invested is the only drawback. Me personally, I think it is a well placed investment. LSU is now in the top 4 in total revenue in college sports. The school is hurting, and imo Fisher hire will pay off dividends. Granted it's not a guranteeed home run hire. Only Saban, Meyer and Harlbough are in that crowd. But none are coming here. Aleva is clear that Jimbo is their guy, the BOS-Jimbo is their guy. Historically, I cannot recall a time when the BOS and the LSU AD have been this united with their #1. I don't know why people are making a big deal about the $5 million buyout. Money is there, the assets and facilities are there which is what Jimbo is seeking but not getting from FSU. Jimbo + aranda=LSU retains it's solid #2 position in the conference with the best Offensive to score more than 11 points against bama.

I agree with everything you stated except one thing; I believe that Jimbo is a home run hire. He's a 'triple' at the very least.

That $5,000,000 buyout decreases to $3,000,000 on January 1st by the way.
