Really depends on how much cash they wanna spend.. money talks and doing well in the sec while under probation can get you places. Look at Matt Rhule. They could go for a real young guy and take a chance as well. Even on probation I’d rather coach at Tennessee then some other Sec schools

They could get Freeze but I don’t see the powers to be in Knoxville going for that. Apparently Peyton and Jimmy Haslam are fans of Bill O’Brien. Don’t know if O’Brien would be interested. Besides that you’d hear the same names that have been bandied about, Billy Napier, Jamey Chadwell, Doug Marrone. Matt Campbell interviewed for the job three years ago, but hard to see him being interested now.

Gus would actually be a great hire for them at this point. No chance for the big up and comers like Napier imo. I think it’s a Chadwell or another high risk G5 type of guy.

Seems to me the play is to let Steele coach next season and see who is available after the season is over. If the allegations are legit, it seems like this might make the most sense.
