Only rumor I've heard from a somewhat reliable source is that Long does have his coach and that they are waiting to find out if Arkansas will get bowl eligible or not for the announcement.
This makes me think it's not a college coach. Your thoughts?

Arky has to overpay with their recruiting base
Takes a special coach to win with the dearth of talent in that state.
If Gruden, congrats. These morons act like recruiting is an art form perfected only by the sacrosanct inner circle of college coaches.
He's charismatic. He's energetic. He can sell the NFL. He has a Super Bowl ring. He'll be a helluva a recruiter.
Will that be enough to overcome the substantial disadvantages of the Arky job? Who knows. I doubt he'll do much better than Petrino, who was a top 5 cfb coach, and Petrino went to only one BCS game IIRC.

I really don't see any reason Gruden would pick Arkansas over Tennessee. Maybe he won't be a Vol, but do people actually think he'll turn Tennessee down for Arkansas?

Because he likes to win.

Good point. Arkansas has almost as many SEC championships as Kentucky.

But be honest. You don't really buy Gruden picking Arkansas over Tennessee, right?

Well, Arkansas DOES have an opening. And also has had 7 months to sell him on it. He has no 'choice' of Tennessee at the moment.
However, as this goes on, I am beginning to believe it's Patterson.
