Hiring an employed DC >>> Hiring a fired DC

Drinkwitz did hire a fired DC Baker when he was the DC for Miami.

Hope he’s successful though so we can take him off your hands. Glad he gets tested out somewhere else

It’s funny because we’re saying the same thing about South Carolina testing out Dowell Loggains for us. Sometimes it cracks me up how we pass coaches around.

No chance you believe that.

Maybe not 90% but players are WAY more important than coaching IMO. Everyone thought Dabo was a subpar coach for like 3 years until they started recruiting like crazy and he’s been winning ever since. Countless examples of successful coaches going elsewhere and being awful without the personnel.

Hopefully he doesn’t recruit terrible 5 stars like he did at Auburn

Dabo had your former HC as an offense coach. I think OC. I am not sure but after he left Clemson the offense got a lot better.

Are you getting a Chad Morris kind of a coach only this time as a DC?

This feels so unnatural. What’s the catch?

yuge unknown as he's never worked outside of Malzahn and he's still relatively young. Different ball game for him in with all the responsibility in the big time SEC at Ark.

I say he is a huge upgrade over Odom.

No catch. He is genuinely a really good person and works very hard. Very good recruiter, but as DC hopefully he goes to another level for you. He will always look to get better and be better. TWill is one of my favorite former players. Great family man and has a ton of energy.

Odom did a good job his first 2 years. This year we just didn’t have the personnel to fit what he does and he refused to adjust. Odom definitely isn’t known for his recruiting so TWill is a big step up there.

In terms of a play caller, there’s no way to know that yet… he could be, but he’ll have to improve (which is very doable given his inexperience).

A DCs #1 duty should be organizing and calling a defense…. Williams is a relative unknown there.

I believe Odom was push out to get a HC job. Then you see this person with just one year of HC experience taking the Arkansas job really make a huge difference. Something is up with this hiring from an experienced DC to an unexperienced DC. Unless wanted someone who could help with recruiting. Odom failed to be a good recruiter. That might be why the change happened.

So he’s an honest man. Got to like that quality in a person.

No one said he didn’t fumble. Why is that a thing. That wasn’t even the argument was it?

Dude had a defense that surrendered 640 yards in a conference title game against a Tulane team that wasn't more talented than his.

I can't get that image out of my head with him.
