? This is a problem when you have coaches not tied to the program. If you had an LSU guy coaching, he would not be distracted by the Michigan jobs of the world. Further, if he had assistants that were not focused, he would relieve them of their coaching responsibilities. I personnally would put my heart into winning a MNC if I were a coach, but it just seems when you get guys with no passion about the school or the program, then you are just asking for these kinds of let downs.

First I think its clear that Les has got some passion about LSU. That I am not worried about.

However I think the answer to your question is no. THere are no real LSU canidates out there. WHy I don't know. I am not sure why I never see LSU guys as assistants at other places.

Pete Mangurian. One of the best assistant coaches we've ever had at LSU. Coached the OL under Arnsparger and developed Eric Andolsek and Nacho Albergamo into two of the best OL in LSU history. Great speaker, great recruiter, and has as much technical football knowledge as anyone out there. See link.

Jeff Jagodzinski of BC. Prior to his coaching stint at Boston College, Jagodzinski served on coaching staffs at East Carolina (1989-96), Louisiana State (1987-88), Northern Illinois (1986), and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (1985), his alma mater.

Maybe because our program is always in the coach search mode. How the hell can any assistant build a resume here? OOPS forgot about Pellini...Color him Red.

PRobably cuz Mac did not develop assistant coaches and due to instability at the head coaching job we haven't had a coach develop them although some of Saban's have turned out nicely.

I'd wager that finding a current NFL coach who has coached at LSU is actually easier than finding a current NFL player who has played at LSU.
