If it came down to being one of these two, would most people be happy? They seem to be the ones that would bring some much-needed stability to the program and run it the right way.

Aranda. He has already coached at LSU and Petersen is getting old..

Not to mention that Petersen's last year at Washington was bad.

Neither one’s a retired burn out the other has only two years head coaching experience

If his heart is in it, Petersen and it isn’t particularly close.

For my money, Petersen is the 3rd best coach out there still coaching or who might return (Saban, Urban, Petersen). He led frigging Washington to the CFP in his 3rd season (their best finish in 15 Years) and they put up a respectable game vs Alabama.

But the heart is a big question. If Washington burnt him out I imagine he’s more likely to come back for a lower pressure job rather than ours.

I agree, but he got Washington to the Playoffs. That’s impressive considering the talent level at that school. One bad year with a bunch of good/great ones is not a bad resume. Definitely better than Tucker.

Either would be massive upgrades.

But the real grand slam homerun would be Aranda back as HC and him convincing Joe Brady to come back as OC. We could throttle the gumps on an annual basis for the remainder of Nick's tenure as a gump coach.

I love Aranda. The only question I have with him is recruiting. Now, if he starts developing guys all over the field like he did the LB’s at LSU then recruiting will take off. It may be slow at first with him and idk if fans can handle that.

I want nothing to do with Petersen

If you get burned out coaching in the Pac12 then you don’t have what it takes to make it in the SEC.

Stay retired Christy

I would be happy with either, but if Petersen is on board he's got to be the hire. I wanted him here when he was at Boise and again when he was at Washington. He's an incredible coach.

Both are massive upgrades to what we have now, but if I had to choose it would be Aranda with a hot shot OC. Defense wins championships

The unknown is how committed Petersen would be. Not knowing that I’d take Aranda. If I knew for sure CP would be all in mentally for at least the next 7 or 8 years then I’d take him.
