I think Major is a great guy, and I've known him for years. However, my texas colleagues keep saying that Mack needs to pay him $750k and name him co-oc in order to keep him there and "reward him for putting in the work". Am I crazy for thinking they are crazy. Is he really a threat to leave? Who is going to snatch him up from them?

Absolutely

I've seen people label him a great offensive mind and an offensive genius

I have no clue what he's done to warrant his hype

He left Bama as OC to go to Texas as the RB coach. If he was that valuable, wouldn't he just be named the OC this year instead of bringing in another guy?

According to Rivals, he's only pulled in 10 commits over the past 5 years. Doesn't sound impressive. Is he that great of a recruiter? If so, then why not name him as recruiting coordinator instead?

I brought this up, and they said that shows how valuable he is - to be "stolen" from Alabama. Am I the only one that thinks he wasn't going to be the OC at bama the next year regardless?

I'd take him at LSU as OC of over Krapthorpe and Billy G.

Billy G has never been an OC, Applewhite has.

Kragthorpe has had rankings similar to Crowton.
Applewhite's rankings I believe were higher than Kragthorpes.

he probably did...but I think it was pretty clear at the time that Saban wasn't happy and told him to move on

This. I know he loves Alabama and Texas but I wouldn't mind a Baton Rouge boy on our staff.

Here's his resume:
2005 - QB coach at Syracuse....went 1-10 and scored the fewest points in 20 years
2006 - Rice OC - Ranked #58 in total offense, but best season offensively for them ever I believe. Still not impressive.
2007 - Bama OC - Ranked #75 in total offense, which is an improvement over 2006 in ypg, but not by ranking (#65). Still not very good.
2008-2010 - Texas RB coach & AHC

During his tenure at Texas, he's what he has accomplished as RB coach:
2007: #17 Rush Offense (before he got there) (539 carries)
2008: #41 (508 carries)
2009: #61 (513 carries)
2010: #66 (433 carries)

Colt McCoy was the starter at QB from 2006-2009 fwiw.

Too many things going on with Major, good guy and coach. In 2002, he almost didn't end up at Tx. He was set to Ga at another school. A few things went on at bama. It was a good for him to move on. I wish him the best.....he keeps adding to his resume...
