Same sources that had Mike Bianco on his way to the airport in Olive Branch, Ms to hop on a flight to accept the job in BR.
Oh wait, that didn't happen?

quote:I see Riley's only "visible" (i.e. might be some not obvious to those outside the program) weakness at LSU or as a HC of an SEC team (which OU will be soon) is his poor record of first identifying defensive coaches to hire and after hiring them holding them accountable for both recruiting and on the field performance.
That's why you're an Aggie fan and why you haven't won anything. You don't understand the value of someone like Riley and why he's LSU's #1
1.) Elite OC who is built for modern NCAA
2.) Young so he has a coaching ceiling that could improve
3.) Elite QB developer keeping you stacked here which is the most important position on the team
4.) Great national recruiter
5.) Could be a young face of the program for 10+ years
He has everything LSU needs an overhaul in right now. Modern NCAA championships is built on electric offenses with athletic QBs both of which Riley is elite at.
What I think I see there on the defensive side of the ball is that he's so focused on the offensive side, and rightly so, he stays too much out of the defensive coaches processes. As much talk as there is here about not wanting a CEO type coach- it is necessary. Coaches, left to their own devices, will almost always not perform at peak.
Seems Riley just lets them run their own show, and it shows. If you're going to do that you have to have a Venables who is all-in. He doesn't. It's almost Les Milesesque in the sense where "good enough is good enough"; he needs to push those defensive coaches more and let them know their job isn't safe if not improving.
Other than that, I can't think of a better candidate for LSU. I think it might be an impossible pull. BUT... it is possible SW goes and finds him that DC (+ Raymond) and that is part of the package.

quote:Jimbo Fisher is playing the new role for Mike Bianco. See a trend? And LSU landed a WAYYYY better coach than Mike Bianco. That's why I trust SW in this hiring process.

I don't know about "in play", but tigerbaitlawyer is widely viewed even outside of the TD walls as a reliable insider and he said Riley is getting, or has already received, a very large offer.
Not sure if he is the least bit interested (thus "in play"), but I trust tigerbaitlawyer that we are going after him first.
It also just fits exactly what Woodward is looking for. Young, smart, strong recruiter, top program experience, and still hungry.

You want my honest opinion? You would be better off with Mel Tucker. Let me explain.
Lincoln Riley's success has been in an offense friendly Big 12. What are his main competition? A dysfunctional texas since Mack Brown was run off?
Challenging question for Tigers. Do you think he will stand up to the SEC competition?
Mel Tucker. He has been succesful in a realistically challenging conference.
Just my 2 cents... as an Ag, I would be more concerned with Tucker than Riley.
Nobody believes this...including you
Tucker couldve lucked into ONE good season like O. He's proven jack shite and will not Be coaching at lsu. Just stop with the tucker nonsense.
