why is Harbaugh elite besides people saying he is and him getting extremely overpaid?

Harbaugh built god damn Stanford into a BCS team and then took the trainwreck 49ers to the Superbowl.

If you don't think Harbaugh is one of the 5 best coaches on the planet, then I'm not sure we're watching the same game right now.

idk how you mofos don't think Fisher is elite

He has lost 2+ games in every season without Jameis Winston, for starters.

He's a good coach, but he brings many of the same complaints folks had with less as far underachieving according to talent levels and unwillingness to adapt on offense.

The way for Jimbo to become elite is to take the LSU job.

Elite: Saban, Meyer, Harbaugh

When Harbaugh wins an NCAA title or a Superbowl title as a HC then call me. Until then he isn't an elite coach in the same breath as Saban or Meyer!!!! Those two are in a class of their own. And oh yeah Fisher has won a title also and still not title for Harbaugh!

Since we're having this dumbass argument again, what's Harbaugh's record without Andrew Luck?

Need a hint? It's not great.

My tier would be Saban with a tier unto himself.

Then Meyer with a tier unto himself.

After that its Harbaugh and then a whole bunch of guys IMO.

As great as Meyer is, Saban might be the greatest coach of all time.

Stanford doesn't have near the overall talent level as FSU. Not even close to equitable. FSU's rankings last half decade:

2012: 3
2013: 11
2014: 4
2015: 3
2016: 2

They've finished outside the top 10 once. 247 college team talent composite has them 5th most talented nationally:

247 College Team Talent Composite

Stanford has 1 top 10 recruiting class in the past 15 years. They've had more classes outside the top 50 than in the top 10.

He also won double digit games in the NFL 3 of 4 years, "without Andrew Luck."

There's an argument to be made for this, but what does LSU give him that he doesn't realistically already have at FSU?

So, only Jimbo gets docked for having a great QB. Got it.

Meanwhile, we should just ignore exactly how FSU got all that elite talent. Your argument against Jimbo is impeccable.

You're awfully defensive of Jimbo.

I'm just pointing out there's legitimate concerns about paying a guy $6.75 mil to get a different color of the same results you've been having.

Go read Tomahawk Nation and see what a lot of them feel about Jimbo. It's many of the same complaints people had for Miles.

They get more out of their QBs, no doubt, but they get bad OL play, lose games to less talented teams (pretty much every L they will take, just like LSU) and seem to play adrift at times.

Make no mistake, Jimbo's team this year is as big of a failure as Les'. They were playoff favorites. They biffed it.

They could turn it around the next two years and be kick arse again. But his teams before Jameis had the same complaints about constantly stumbling to lesser teams.

Since you edited, I'll reply to this too.

Yes, of course Jimbo gets credit for loading up their roster. Just like Les does ours.

So why can't we blame him for losing with that talent?

Yes, everyone has a-holes and opinions.

Thank you Brad. Why do people get so butt hurt when someone critiques a guy that not even LSU's coach.

Honestly, you've taken no time to actually discuss the arguments on the table, but instead wasted 4 different posts slinging insults.

I at least gave you the dignity of replying to the thinly formed arguments you made.

The fact you need someone to formulate an argument FOR a NC winning coach who's 76-17, over 7 years, with a national title and another playoff appearance shows how uninformed you really are.

You can keep slobbing on Harbaugh's knob if you want. I'll live in reality where winning consistently, and not being paid more than everyone else, is what makes you elite.

I'm going to go multiple championship rings makes you an elite coach. That is a small group that includes Saban, Meyer, Fisher, and few others.

So, a guy who started as a researcher at ESPN literally right out of college and has been there for over 20 years knows what's up when it comes to coaches, eh?

Prior to joining ESPN, Edwards worked in public relations for the Birmingham Barracudas of the Canadian Football League.

My bad. We all know working PR in the CFL gives you insight into college coaching like nothing else.

Oh, and what will come as a shock to absolutely nobody, he's a Bama grad..

And BTW, I am not "defensive about Jimbo". I just hate ESPN, and this is one of a billion examples of why.
