re: Am I the only one who thinks there's no chance that Freeman takes our DC job?

Your last statement about “pegging his career to an opportunity with Coach O” says a lot.
Just about anyone who is realistic in their perspective about LSU, and college football in general, knows that Coach O is at a crossroads. Yes, he won a national championship last year, but the team almost imploded this year (for a variety of reasons, some his fault and some not). There's a lot of uncertainty about whether he can turn things around, and a hotshot young coach might be hesitant to jump into that situation. All LSU fans certainly hope that Coach O can turn things around, but many LSU fans are unsure about his ability to turn it around. These hires will go a long way towards answering that, but even a sunshine pumper has to admit that his previous hires have been a mixed bag. Canada and Pelini bombed, while Brady was a home run. Ensminger was a mixed bag because there is a lot of unknown (except to insiders) as to how much of the 2019 success was due to him and how much of it was due to Brady.
And, not all people are purely motivated by money. Freeman is going to make good money no matter where he goes, as a DC or a HC. If he's a MW guy, and wants to stay in the MW, he'll have good opportunities to continue building his resume, and to get paid well for doing it. Not everyone wears P&G glasses, and not everyone is motivated by the highest bidder.

I’m so fricking tired of the tigerdroppings narrative of O. Yall have been brainwashed by idiocy.
You know someone has no footing when they immediately resort to empty attempts at personal insults.

That wasn’t a personal insult it was a validated fact from responses on this board. If the shoe fits you know what to do.

The only college football coaches who don’t fit this bill have established themselves at their desired positions. However those aspiring that comfort level are driven by money.

That's not true. I can think of plenty of coaches who awaited the right opportunity, rather than bolting at the first sign of big money.

Name one position coach making what Freeman makes who didn't take a big payday. IF you are trying to use Napier he makes more money than Freeman and he is a head coach.
Brent Venables? hmmm cant use him. Highest paid assistant in college football turned down head coaching gigs.
Find me a college football coaching making Freeman money who didn't take that payday. Because the payday also comes with exposure. It isn't just about money. LSU DC job is a top 5 position in college football for coordinators.

You didn't read what I wrote; you read what you wanted me to have written. I'm not talking about an assistant coach turning down a big payday. I'm talking about an assistant coach turning down a big payday at the first opportunity, especially when other big paydays are very much in play for him. He may just take a DC job at another school in his preferred region of the country (for instance, at Michigan) for something less than what LSU is offering. In this case, he wouldn't be turning down a big payday (like you're inferring); he'd be turning down the biggest payday for another great opportunity that is a better fit for him. Not everyone wants to come to LSU, and not everyone goes to the highest bidder. I've turned down better-paying jobs because they weren't the right fit. Coaches do the same.
