The OC had to understand ultimately Miles had the ultimate say on offense and the new OC had to keep the entire current Offensive staff, so that limits options

You're saying we couldn't get a better OC because they would insist on bringing their own people.

I m saying it limits your options because most OCs want to bring in mostly their on staff

It's true somtimes but in most cases schools already have position coaches in place unless the whole staff is turned over.Muschamp hired every position coach on offense before hiring Weis.College position coaches are made with 2 principles in mind. Some are ofr actual caoching and some are primarily recruiters that happen to have some ability to coach. The best are able to do both at a high level but it's reare.

Not so much staff issue but play calling. There is a reason Crowton demanded a 100% control of the offense clause in his new contract.

Ott is that you? Just look at Crowton's past record EVERYWHERE he's been. It followed the same pattern. Your weakass attempt to lay something on Les is

I think he has the wrong reasons. A coach may look at a situation and decide if it's right for him. He has to decide two things. First who does he have to work with as far as the staff? Is it a group he can work well with? I am not talking about input into hiring but coaches already present on staff. Second is how much freedom do I have. Am I an OC that is working for a defensive coach like Saban or Muschamp? Is it a situation where I have total autonomy to run my offense with zero interference from the head coach? All these questions are a fancy way of saying is this job the right fit for me. Is it the better than the current situation I have now? Read Sean Payton's book if you don't think coaches ask questions like this before they take a job.

The only offensive coach that I would look to change is on the O-line.

Frank Wilson is the only offensive assistant worth a shite and that is just for recruiting purposes.

It's too bad Kraigthrope wouldn't consider a new offensive line coach.
