Get your money because your shelf life is short. Boosters get pissy with average and you’re out quick

I think the new trend good coaches is just to leverage a huge raise and extension where you are to not have a hassle of rebuilding. Can’t blame them

The higher the salaries go the more the accountability. Zero issues with it.

Yeah, but in Mullen's case he clearly lost that team.

Seems like he lost them at the end of last year.

Made a major mistake not fishing in the portal for a QB, too.

Agree. Emory Jones clearly didn’t have it and he made his bed

The shoe throwing incident showed me his character and the character of that locker room. He backed his player. Stupidity.

Too many schools think they’re going to hire Nick Saban and end up like Alabama. People don’t want to accept that their ceiling is a mid-tier bowl. Look at Iowa. They know their ceiling is a NY6 bowl every couple of years and beating one of the Big 10 blue bloods just about every year. And that’s fine!

Hunt Palmer was saying the other day how Ryan Day and Lincoln Riley hadn’t taken their teams to the next level - Ohio State and Oklahoma are always in the playoff mix and they dominate their biggest rival. That’s pretty good! If you would tell an Oklahoma fan 20 years ago this would be the state of their program, they would be happy. And if you’re always in the hunt for a championship, eventually you will get one

All these coaches know how this ultimately ends 99% of the time.

Sign of the times indeed. 15 minutes of fame has turned into 15 seconds. Instant gratification and everything’s disposable.

There will be no more Paterno, Stoops, Gundy situations where we allow coaches to build something. Even Nick Saban and Bill Belichick were granted grace/ramp up periods.

Mullen showed up in a darth Vader costume at a press conference. Are you surprised he was fired?

I agree with this. It's monopoly money they are all playing with now and it's only going to get more competitive and be harder to stay on top.

But the salaries are absurd, so I guess it's worth the hassle.
