All I hear...

is that LSU is a GREAT place. If that is the case, then why can't we keep any coaches longer than 3 to 5 years? I'd LOVE to have a coach that is willing to stay as long as Dale Brown did. I know, I know, he lost it toward the end, but damn he went to 2 Final Fours at a school that is NOT a basketball school.
We need LONG TERM stability to stay on top like some of the other schools.

1 - Saban didn't stay because he is an egomaniac concerned only with his pocketbook and his over-inflated estimation of his own importance.
2 - If Miles leaves, it will be because he has a chance to fulfill his life-long dream of coaching at Michigan - who could blame him? If there was no Michigan job opening, there'd be no talk of Miles leaving.
Having said all that, like you, I've wondered why we can't have a coach whose life-long dream has been to coach at LSU.
Of course, someone corrected me the other day and pointed out that Stovall likely fit that description. Ouch.

Did you really think this was such a great point, it needed to be posted twice, under different headings?

Long term stability is a secondary goal. Long term success is the first one. If we won an SEC Champ every year with a different coach nobody on this board would complain.
That said, and not knowing too much about the man, if we got Chris Peterson now and paid him right I imagine he could be here for a long time.

I think he posted it on the Rant, and it was moved...he didn't know that and posted it again here.

No banter, I wanted to see what people thought, now it is getting a little attention!
