If Scott hires Franklin, O'Brien, Tucker, or Fisher then he has not lived up to his reputation. LSU is a brand name that should be able to obtain a coach better than the likes of those candidates.

So who would your choice be?

Like who?
A head coach from PennSt, Texas A&M, or Michigan St? Not any school could take a head coach from those schools.

Who would be better?

He has surpassed my expectations already. Great hire for women's basketball and men's baseball. Wade is still at LSU and he got rid of Orgeron. It's night and day compared to how Alleva would have done it.

Riley, Aranda, Kiffin, Napier, Dabo in no particular order.

Well let’s just say you’re gonna be disappointed when we hire Jimbo

We should all be disappointed. Dude is just coasting out his coaching career until retirement.

Only Riley and Dabo are consistent with his previous hires. Take Aranda out of the picture, the game has changed and you can't win with defense anymore. LSU needs a coach who is known for his modern offense.

I once heard man say, "your argument for something is only as strong as the your proposed resolution to that problem."

I think this is a fair question to ask.

I agree and that's why Woodward's eyes are on Lane Kiffin and only Lane Kiffin.

Wow, you get downvoted for 5 of the better options there is, there are some insufferable MF’s in this world.

Must've triggered all the Jimbo or Franklin posters. They each have their own base. It's interesting because those two coaches have things in common: (1) outdated offenses and (2) inability to ever beat the best teams in their respective divisions.

Aside from Dabo, your list is flawed. Riley- struggling to win the big games with a high powered offense. Aranda- inexperienced, Tucker has a better head coaching record and experience. Kiffin- is Kiffin. Napier- potential, but Sunbelt.

Head to head right now, Jimbo's team, with a backup QB, would beat all of the above. It also seems that he is able to recruit head to head with Saban.

You must not watch college football. Oklahoma in a weak Big 12 struggling to beat the mighty Kansas and Tulane. Clemson in a weak ACC has what...3 wins? Napier isn't blowing away his Sunbelt competition.

Oh and I guess Bama is still undefeated and we're not a big game for a&m. Please go on....

Do we want a big name or the best coach for the future? Until that coach is here and coaching for several years, it will be impossible to know if he lived up to his reputation.

It is up to coaches and staff to evaluate potential recruits aside from simply their star rating. Similarly, it is the AD's job to evaluate potential coaching candidates and determine which coach provides the best opportunity for LSU to both win quickly and sustain that winning. He has to do that outside of the external noise and perceptions of the media and even fans.

For me, Woodward has earned quite a bit of latitude with regard to this coaching search and even the hire. I'll trust his judgement until it is proven wrong, even if I am not blown away by the hire.

Like the offensive gurus.....Saban and Smart?

Consistently competing for championships requires superior program leaders. Leaders who bring a disciplined philosophy to recruiting, coaching, and administering a program. And who are ahead of trends and will adjust all of the above to the innovations in the game. Disciplined innovators.
