I’d much rather hire him than get into a Lane bidding war.
totally agree

One of the hesitations I have with Golesh is that his team is much more talented than the teams they face each weekend in that conference….not sure how to feel about that

they need a splash hire for the brand. Is it the right decision? I don't think so because you miss out on guys like Saban at Michigan State.
I hope they don’t miss out on any guys like Saban.

Likely more a tier 3 guy
I don’t understand where this attitude comes from. It’s incredible.

Dude is firey for sure. Remember when he punked Tom Herman midfield after their game

That's a direct result of him building the roster, though. They had won 4 games in 3 years before he arrived, and he immediately turned it around. You give him the resources he'll have at LSU, and who knows what he could do. Or, maybe he fails, like so many others have, moving up to larger schools, but I think it's worth the risk with Golesh. If you can't get Lane, this dude should be the next one on the list, in my opinion.

I like Golesh. Good coach. Good dude. I have reasons, but I can't say the same about Jeff Traylor.

I've been high on golesh from the beginning.
Like I've been Saying, they need to bring all these younger offensive guys in for interviews and go from there. Interview on zoom. Whatever. But interview and hear their plan for lsu and what it would look like.
Will stein, golesh, dillingham, Eric Morris, and chesney.

Brian Kelly was hired because he was a splash, not the right coach. Bring in the right guy, if he succeeds who cares about the initial splash.

I really like him as a coach, and offensively, he certainly has the chops. However, his defense leaves A LOT to be desired. They've gotten marginally better each year, but in their best year (this year), they are 89th in total defense, and 68th in scoring defense.
Dude needs a top notch defensive coordinator.

quote:Whomever LSU hires, there will be national news pieces made on him. Recruits would see these on any national news they look at for sports. I just looked up his personal life, and even THAT will be made a big deal out of. Also, this guy was Heupel's OC/play caller at UCF for a year and Tennessee when they had Hendon Hooker. Remember, Tennessee chose Heupel from UCF after he came off a 6-4 covid season.
Something not mentioned here a lot is LSU is a brand and they need their brand as a business to be exciting. So they need a splash hire for the brand. Is it the right decision? I don't think so because you miss out on guys like Saban at Michigan State.
This isn't LSU from the early 2000s they want big or go home. Golesh would only excite the most knowledgeable players in the fan base. 95% of people couldn't tell you who he is.
Dude was at USF AND UCF. We can get right back into Florida with him. That used to be a nice recruiting ground for LSU during the Les Miles days.
