Beginning to think that some of our current coaches must feel ok about their chances, especially the ones who are well respected nationally.

Guys like Blake Baker, Brad Davis, Daronte Jones and Corey Raymond could easily have jobs elsewhere. It may still be early in the coaching cycle, but we aren’t hearing rumors of them getting interviews.

Baker was offered SMU DC job. He might take that. Depends on the pay I suppose.

Yea I am sure that’s true, but Mickey Joseph was able to land somewhere already.

Jones is not nationally respected bud. He is a subpar DC who should’ve never been hired. He lucked out and will probably get a Power 5 DC job simply for not sucking.

Jones may not be as a DC, but he is as a Defensive Backs coach.

That's a terrible take

Jones will be ok. Dude had never been a DC, had zero ties to the program so he didn't know our personnel. His body of work consists of exactly one season... which he finished out with very strong games against Alabama, Arkansas, and A&M (3 ranked teams). Defense was good enough to win all of those. We make 2 plays, and the team finishes 8-4 and conceivably ranked- and it would be completely because of him.

I think there's a decent chance he is retained, fwiw. Massive improvement from game 1 to 12, and clearly able to motivate/coach up guys who didn't even expect to play this year.

I feel like Davis Raymond and Baker all stay. I just think Kelly is going to go after a proven DC. Just my opinion...

Believe it was Moscona that stated Baker had an offer for SMU DC position.

Daronte Jones HAS been a DC, just not at the D1 FBS level. He was DC at D2 Bowie State for 4 years. At Bowie State, Jones’ defense was known as an aggressive, attacking unit that ranked No. 1 in Division II in total defense in 2009, allowing only 217.7 yards per game. They also ranked No. 2 nationally in rushing defense (56.5 yards per game) and ninth in pass-efficiency defense.

Jones was LSU's first DC without D1 experience since Muschamp in '02 under Saban.

Penn State DC Search

LSU DC Daronte Jones is the name generating the most buzz on my end. CJF likes the idea of brining him in for a potential DC / Safeties role. As of this morning, I’m under the impression that it’s his job to turn down.

Oh cool, Daronte would be a great hire…

Daronte is only here still because we are vetting Dcs. He isn’t staying for a demotion and pay cut

I agree that he is likely not going to be retained, but I would absolutely argue anyone who thinks he is not nationally respected as a defensive backs coach. I think he is more likely to go back to the NFL.

I saw Peetz at a Chick-fil-A in Tennessee yesterday. Sitting in the back booth with the operator.
