Saban
Meyer
Miles (He's going to be working again soon)
Stoops
Fisher
You can make an argument that the Elite coaches include Saban, Meyer and Harbaugh only....just 3 at Teir 1 coaches and everyone else is 2nd Tier or 3rd, right?
So...if you're going fire Les Miles who many argued was 2nd or 3rd tier and won because he has so much talent, pay 9 million in order to upgrade to Tier 1 or high 2, right?..
so if you're smart, you hire the Defensive Line Coach right?
ok maybe not fair to O, but dang...I am struggling with this whole thing...
Coker...was handed the keys to Ferrari and he train-wrecked it 3 seasons...
O has more energy and better recruiter but still...

It's based on emotion. You can't make sense of emotion

One of these things is not like the other.

Since it's probably going to happen let's see if I can predict the typical Coach O responses.
Saban - do not want, lost to ULM
Meyer - lost to VT!?
Miles - literally just got fired from his last job
Stoops - lost to Tom Herman who lost to SMU!
Fisher - 63-20!??
Coach O YAW YAW FOOTBAW

Why is Harbaugh tier 1 again?

For me it is all about recruiting. I take a coach who can bring in top recruiting classes regularly over anything else. Heck even Miles could win with good (but not top) recruiting classes and with 1970s offensive philosophy and average QBs.

Well, he's pretty dang good, though he is strange cat
Brought Michigan back in 2 years...I mean he's just getting started...
He's in the mix IMHO

Well then you should check out this Jimbo Fisher guy. Excellent recruiter.
And O's classes at OM were worse than cutcliffe, nutt, and freeze.
You should really do a little research.

How exactly would you explain Jimbo is not a 'tier 1 coach'?
A National Title
29 game win streak
A Heisman winner
Several other Heisman candidates
Four 1st round QBs
8-1 vs the SEC
Three (if I recall) conference titles
Top 5 recruiting classes yearly
Need I go on?

Well, some people think it's only reserved for saban and Meyer
I think Jimbo is Tier 1...he's my guy...
I love O, if he is the guy, it could be a dang fun ride
either way, we might be ok
I just want to get it right
I think hiring Jimbo is a sure thing "getting it right"

What was Fisher like without Winston

Yeah, that's how you play that game.
