A thought: which situation would be worse?

I am excited about Chavis and the prospects of Orgeron also joining the staff. However, one thing gives me some concern. I read somewhere on here that if Orgeron joins, he will be assistant head coach, defensive line coach, and recruiting coordinator, and that he would be paid more than the defensive coordinator (Chavis).

If so, would that be a worse situation than having co-defensive coordinators? You would have a defensive coordinator presumably with control over the entire defense and its staff, but with a single coach (Orgeron) getting paid more and also serving as assistant head coach. Something about that arrangement really concerns me.

Thoughts?

more so now than ever we need coach O with Chavis on board.

Who the hell cares how much it costs. We need Coach O pretty bad now to compensate

I don't think that will happen. If it does it will only be in official salary by LSU. I would think that their would be some kind of supliment from the TAF to Chavis that would prevent that.

Position coaches have the title of Assistant or Associate head coaches all the time. Nothing new there. I would doubt that he'd be paid more, though it might be close.

Compensate for what? You make no sense at all and are misguided and infatuated with Coach O as some savior. Like the way the Saints DL performed this year? Personally, I think he is a colorful character and very average DL coach. Whether you like it or not, Chavis is the boss of the defense and O would be his subordinate. Chavis should make, at least 200k more than O per year.

I tend to agree. I did not follow USC when O was there but heard he was good in terms of recruiting. He was a terrible head coach at Ole Piss. He is an average DL coach for the Saints. He supposedly is a hothead and has very questionable recruiting techniques. I think our recruiting is doing just fine. What is everyone's infatuation with him? Is there something I am missing?
