Does LSU now have to hire non-white, young guys (or females)? What qualifies as young?

Who cares what their race is, just hire the best person for the job

Give it a rest. Nobody has to hire anyone, but I think it is time for Coach O and LSU to have an applicant pool that includes "qualified Black coaches" for DC, etc.
If you interview Coach Freeman, or Mason, along with whoever else you interview (Nielsen from the Saints, Mushcamp, etc) and they win the Interview, then you hire them.
Not so hard. Just give coaches, qualified coaches the opportunity to make their case in the interview process.

Do you know if this was ever not the case?

Have you ever seen evidence there was? I do think O reached out to Curtis Johnson to replace Brady but he did not want to interview. Likes the NFL. But I think LSU could do more and do better. The key word for me here is "opportunity" not check box hiring.
Nothing wrong with contacting agents of coaches who are Minority candidates and giving them the opportunity to make their case. Now, just hiring someone to check a box is wrong and I think Black coaches don't want that either, that is you hire someone 100% do to ethnic background etc and then they don't work out, it hurts the legitimate minority coaches chances at getting Power 5 jobs as DC's, OC's and HC's, etc.

Absolutely the best comment on Hiring , I couldn’t state it any better. Should be hung in every personal office and HR division around the country.

He just interviewed and heavily considered Kris Richard last year for DC.

Good for him, that needs to be out there, my guess like Coach Johnson of the Saints, Richard wanted to stay in the NFL. One thing about the NFL is I think their Pension for and Assistant Coach allows up to 75% of your top 5 years salary with some $200,000 cap or base, and you can retire at 65. So guys with long tenure in NFL can get a very good Pension to set them up post NFL and retirement,

Yes- and they have to have non-binary.
40 and younger
40 and younger

I support a move to younger guys if there’s promise there. I’d define younger as under 40 and older as over 50. The young guys are more relatable and that matters. Just seems like the players would rather connect with big brother than dad, especially if you’ve already got dad (Orgeron) as your HC. All the other demographics are silly...
