You won't do bad with any of them.

A Study In Scarlet is my favorite. Flashes back to Mormon Utah and has a full back cowboy story in addition to the murder. Download for free since the copywright ran out and read them all.

Top 3 author of all time for me. Just start with The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Probably 4-5 short stories in and you'll realize if you like them or not. Just dont give up after one and I agree with the previous poster, you can't go wrong with any of them.

All of them. They're mostly short story collections anyway and there isn't a bad one in the bunch.

I stated with the Adventures. Read all the short stories multiple times. Loved A Study I’m Scarlet for his meeting Watson. The Sign of the Four was always my favorite of the novels, though.
