New Book covers for the TV show - some look nice but basically just landscape scenes.

Those are from the UK publisher I think?

There is a show tie-in book cover with the Moiraine tv poster.

I guess so, these are new Orbit book covers. A new Tor cover for EotW looked like a slightly different version of Moiraine tv poster.

I assume they are trying to put book covers out there that don't scream "crazy fantasy nerd book" so ordinary people will want to buy them?

Things are very quiet on the WOT TV front. There's been some small leaks regarding casting on S2, but nothing like the leaks that came pouring out for S1.

Also this show comes out in 3 months and we've seen virtually nothing of it in terms of actual footage or photos of characters, screenshots, etc. Its crazy.

We should have a trailer by the "end of the summer", which is September 22nd, about 2 months before the theorized airing of the show. That's about in line with Amazon's past marketing strategies

Just seems odd to me but that's the way Amazon does it.

I think the idea is you don't want to put out a trailer and then nothing so it loses momentum or have it become routine where it doesn't really create the same level of anticipation.

Honestly even for shite I'm really excited about like Dune and Foundation - due to Covid the marketing and shite has been so extended that I am nowhere near as pumped as I was back after the initial marketing buzz. I saw the new trailer and it was awesome and then I just went back about my day because its been such a drawn out process.

I'd imagine we will see the trailer soon, they have new book releases kind of staggered coming out, etc. Hopefully it gets going soon.

Have they announced if it will be a full season drop or weekly episodes? I hope weekly as that will definitely generate more consistent buzz if the show hits.

Yes, Amazon's marketing department for new shows FIRMLY believes that you start marketing a show about 6-8 weeks out at most.

And when they market, they MARKET. Its generally a blitz for a show this size for about 6 weeks, cross promoted on all their packaging and platforms.

I better not have to wait another month for the trailer.

And we post this stuff and there is a huge WoT spread in Entertainment Weekly this morning. Stills are out, magazine comes out later this week I think. lol.

Here are some stills. Obviously not hi-res as someone just hosted the leaks from imgur.

I think season 1 is going to hit really well with the general public honestly - with the tightening of the storyline, avoiding some of the smaller scene towns, we should have a pretty big actions sequence for general viewers very regularly.

Winternight should be awesome

Shadar Logoth I think can be fantastic, very dark vibe and if they hit that horror element, it should land really well

Shoudl have some pretty interesting stuff with the Logain expanded storyline.

Traveling the Ways again should hit some really cool horror elements.

And then Blight / Tarwins Gap will hopefully be done well.

Curious where they end it, I still think we may end it with horn being stolen for a set-up of next season conflict.

Yeah, I think the 2nd to last episode is Blight/Tarwin's gap and the last episode is the aftermath and set up for s2

The end of summer for trailer comment from Rafe has sparked debate about what end of summer means. I think it means the equinox which is September 22nd, and I think he means that as well.

In addition, Amazon starts marketing new shows about 6-8 weeks out.

September 16th is the first Thursday Night Football game on Amazon, and is also the anniversary of RJ's death.

It's also about 6-8 weeks out from November, depending on which week it airs in November.

That's where I would place my wager.

Looking at the Q&A: I like the comment about aging up some of the characters because it isn't YA and he doesn't want the first season with a bunch of young teenagers to come off that way - sounds like they are working hard to get the right feel off the bat.

Also seems to indicate we may see some forsaken, but maybe in hiding or disguise. That probably means Ishamael as the dark one in the dreams?

There's a small article in the latest TV Guide with a picture of Moiraine riding a horse.

Looks like we are seeing the beginning stages of marketing.

Trailer looks good. I love the WoT series, even the slower books as Jordan’s health failed. I was skeptical that the series would translate well to the screen because the novels are so character driven with so much internal struggle for each character. But I’ve decided to take Brandon Sanderson’s and simply onsider the prime series as another turning of the Wheel, and hope it is successful.

There’s definitely quite a few scenes in that trailer that very obviously do not appear in the books. It’s visually stunning but I think they are trying to tell fans upfront that this is not a page for page adaptation.

All I want is my “Kneel Before the Lord Dragon or you will be knelt” moment and I am happy.
