Black List by Brad Thor. I was supposed to start Man of War by Sean Parnell, but just couldn't resist the pull of Scot Harvath

Im alternernating between Brad Thor and David Baldacci books right now. I knocked out the John Puller series. I'm halfway done with the Will Robie series amd almost halfway done with the Harvath series.

All good books.

Manson - The Life and Times of Charles Manson by Jeff Guinn.

Really good book, easily as good as Helter Skelter in my opinion.

I think was the first of his that I read. Then I went back to the beginning of the Harvath series and now I'm reading them in order.

I'll be getting the new Mitch Rapp book as soon as it comes out.

When you're down, check out Jack Carr's James Reece books: The Terminal List and True Believer and Sean Parnell's books. Outlaw Platoon is non-fiction about his time as a platoon commander in Afghanistan and Man of War is his first fiction book.

The War on Normal People - Andrew Yang.

One of the democratic presidential candidates about automation, AI and the way the future economy might look.

It has about 3 pages of his life so don't worry about that. Mostly about automation and Universal Basic Income.

I got bored with podcasts so dipped back into RBDigital and Audible this month.

From RBDigital:
The Borderland was an 18 hour journey into the days of the Republic of Texas, historical fiction. Highly recommend if you enjoy that genre.

Found a Virgil Flowers book (author John Sandford) that I somehow missed last year, Storm Front. An ancient Israeli artifact that could turn 2 religions and an entire region upside down is smuggled back to MN. Virgil must deal with Mossad, Turks, Palestinians, and a big tittied redneck local gal in his pursuit of the artifact and the truth. If you are a Virgil Flowers (or Lucas Davenport) fan I recommend.

As I mentioned somewhere on the Book board I discovered CJ Box who has a Joe Pickett series about a WY Game Warden that was highly enjoyable. Well I found a new series he did called The Highway Quartet. Books one and three are on RBDigital.

Back of Beyond follows an alcoholic on again off again MT cop who chases a serial killer into Yellowstone where his estranged son is on a horse pack trip. A+ for the mystery/suspense/modern Western genre.

Third in the series is Badlands. A chick cop is relocated from MT to ND where MS-13 is capitalizing on the shale boom. B story involves some truck driver in NC. B-, probably would have enjoyed more if I had listened in order.

Audible:
Second in the Highway Quartet from CJ Box, The Highway. This picks up in MT 2 years after the first book with many of the same characters, and introduces the chick cop from the third book. Truck driver is a serial kidnapper/rapist/murderer who preys mostly on lot lizards and hitchhikers. In this yarn he runs across two teenage girls traveling to MT for Thanksgiving and all hell breaks loose. The recovering alcoholic cop from book one and the chick cop are both A+. The villains are A+. Overall story is A+. This was movie material in my opinion.

Bout to start the 4th in the series, Paradise Valley which based on the title is also set in MT. There apparently is a 5th book that carries on the chick cop arc called The Bitterroots, which is set in ID, looking forward to that as well.

The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman. I had to take a break from the Philippa Gregory books after crushing three of them in a row. This is Hoffman's Practical Magic (yes, of movie fame) series, the prequel to the book the movie is based off of. I needed something a little fall-ish to try to speak it into existence.

The Only Plane in the Sky by Garrett Graff. An oral history of 9/11. It is obviously very sad and horrific, but it is also captivating and hard as hell to put down. I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Reading it, it is hard not to be struck by the pure randomness of whether some people lived or died that day.

This or The Cardinal of the Kremlin are my favorite Clancy books. Both are awesome.

Currently reading Dark Age by Pierce Brown.

After that it will be Uncrowned by Will Wight.
