I've had this thought about the 3rd book for a while. WMF was around 1,000 pages. There is still a lot of story left to get to modern time. I can't imagine the story is 1,000 pages from being completed.

Kvothe is supposed to be an incredibly unreliable narrator.

You are supposed to heavily question what parts of his story you believe and which parts are him trying to build upon his legend.
