For the Suneater readers out there, the author confirmed the seventh and final book, Shadows Upon Time, will release in November.

Anybody read any of John Gwynne’s stuff? Looks like it’s Norse themed which is right up my alley. Went to the book store yesterday and it caught my eye. Taking a break from fantasy for now after finishing First Law but may check it out down the road

I like Gwynne's stuff. If I remember correctly, it took me a while to get into his world... and it seemed kind of straightforward and simple at first... then the characters and world started to develop and get more complicated and interesting as the books progressed.

I've read both the Faithful and the Fallen and first two books of Bloodsworn. I need to read the final one, as I believe it's out now. I didn't read the Of Blood and Bone series yet.

For the bloody nine I don’t see how anybody who has seen Vikings dosent picture him as Ragnar Lothbrook. Matter of fact I pictured all the Northman to look like characters from Vikings.

Ahh, that's a good one/way to look at it. Love me some Ragnar. Stopped watching the show after he left.

Yeah, this is definitely the case with Faithful and the Fallen.

I personally find Gwynne excellent, but I've only read Faithful and Fallen and the Blood and Bone series. Have the first two books of Dragonsworn sitting on my Kindle for when I finish reading through Stormlight Archives.

Taking a brief sci-fi break and debating what to get back into. Red rising reread (dark age up next), continue Cradle Series (finished 2, took a long break inbetween to read Wind and truth and started red rising reread), or start Sun Eater saw some recs on here and synopsis sounds dope. Had trouble finishing cradle two but once I finally got back into it liked it. Loved the Eithan dude.

Cradle starts a little slow the first two books due to it mainly being Lindon, and he's mainly the straight man badass for the series (though he develops a nice snarky personality later on).

If you love Eithan (he's my favorite character) you will get a ton more of him going forward, and quite a few other cool side characters get added. Eithan basically becomes a third main character as the series goes on.

Finished Ready Player One of the weekend. Finished it really fast (for my standards) but it was just meh to me. Some buddies in my fantasy football group chat were raving how good it was so I gave it a go.

I complained that Darrow was a bit of a Mary Sue in Red Rising (was in the minority there) but holy cow nothing tops Wade in Ready Player One.

I can see why a certain generation would love this because it's basically a love song to people that grew up in the 80's and gamers, but how brilliant Wade's memory was just took me out of it. He's a teenager in high school and the treasure hunt had been going on for only five years but in those five years Wade had basically mastered every video game ever, read hundred of books numerous time, watch 1000 movies numerous times and learned every line to them, all while listening to thousands of records and know the meaning behind every word spoken. It got to where it was laughable. A person could live to 100 years old and watch movies, read books, play video games, and listen to music 24/7 for those 100 years and still not know what this kid did in 5 years.

I just couldn't get over that

Ready Player One was so much better than Ready Player Two at least lol. The nostalgia in a lot of book one hit, still liked it fine though when I reread before 2 came out. And yea he is the definition of a Mary Sue

Alright after I finish Mistborn Era 2 I'm going to take a break from Sanderson before reading books 4 and 5 in Stormlight.

I've narrowed it down to a few that I'm going to start next...

Covenant of Steel
Bloodsworn (seems like this is what everyone is reading now)
The Farseer Trilogy
Six of Crows
The Library at Mount Char (this just recently popped on my radar)

Yall help me decide.

Have you read Gwynne's other stuff? Cause I'd suggest Faithful and the Fallen if not.

The only ones on your list that I've read are the Farseer books, Covenant of steel and Bloodsworn are both sitting on my Kindle waiting for me to finish other books(currently reading the fourth Stormlight book ironically).

I will say the other Gwynne stuff is better than Farseer (and I enjoyed all the books Hobb wrote in that world a good bit).

I have not. Are they in the same universe? Didn't even realize he had other stuff honestly. But definitely not tied to starting Bloodsworn first.

Really need to go re-read through this thread as well.
