Sun Eater is very good… but the first book is pretty slow/strange as far as world and character building. Then once you’re fully immersed and fluent in the universe, it’s on.

Just finished The Bloody Nine vs The Feared chapter. All I can ever think while reading this is how fricking great of a tv series it could be

that one had my heart pumping for sure. Abercrombie can write a hell of a fight.

Hopefully when it finally gets finished/made the Best served cold movie with Rebecca Ferguson does well and leads to that TV series being made.

Has there been any updates on the movie?

I had to double check that I didn’t post this. I just finished this chapter last night. What a roller coaster of emotions during that whole battle, especially the events of the 7th day when the Bloody Nine showed up. Brutal.

Finished The Poppy War series. For something that was highly recommended on various spots that was kinda meh? The dialogue was very modern and great which made pages fly by but it did not grip nearly as well as first law and red rising did this year. Gonna try to Greatcloaks series, it was a high rec in the middle of this thread. Was torn between that and Cradle but library only had Greatcloaks.

Greatcloaks was fantastic. You will enjoy. I felt the same way about The Poppy War - sounded like something I'd dig, but was underwhelmed and abandoned the series.

Greatcloaks is excellent, his spellslinger series is very good as well.

None that I've seen after the announcements of her taking the main role and the director.

Sweet I’m 90 pages into Greatcloaks and I’m loving that it is actually funny which has been rare (Alywn scribe in Covenant of Steel and some humor in first law, Sanderson has a lot I guess too) but this is consistently funny so far along with some dark stuff (poor Aline).

Alright yall tell me your recommended Sanderson reading order. I am seeing quite a few different reading orders that people do.
I was originally just planning on jumping straight into Stormlight but if some of the Mistborn books are necissary I don't mind starting there. I was just hoping not to have to read 5-6 books to get to Stormlight but if I need to I'm sure I can.
The different eras had me slightly confused. The first era includes TFE, TWOA, HOA, and Warbreaker. But then I see Elantris and THOE. Are those prequels? Then only one Stormlight is in the 1st era and then jumps back into Mistborn.
Kind of confusing

After 16 months I’ve finished all 16 books of the Farseer/Elderling universe. HIGHLY recommend for anyone who hasn’t checked out.
Any recommendations on something similar? A finished series that is fantasy and character driven?

I feel so foolish for taking a break after The Blade Itself to read other books. I just finished Last Argument of Kings and it was one of the best books I’ve ever read. I didn’t realize how much I loved every character until the shite started going down. It took its sweet time providing answers but the payoff was worth it.
I was going to go to Mistborn next to prepare for Stormlight 5 but now I just want to get to the stand-alones and Age of Madness.

Yeah, he has a great mix of dark and gritty and humor in both his book series.
If you ever wind up reading Cradle it is an extremely funny series as well.

The Greatcloaks series we've just been discussing would actually be a good fit. Sword of Kaigen by ML Wang would also be a good fit.

I’m going to check that out and the Cradle series

Yea I mean that trilogy is 3 of my favorite books of all time, not just fantasy. And honestly the three stand alone books are not really a drop in quality, they are all great on their own. If LAoK is one of the best books you've ever read I'd feel pretty confident saying you're going to love the three stand alone.
I'd probably rank them Best Served Cold, Red Country, and then The Heroes. Though you'd probably hear a lot of people say that The Heroes is their favorite, especially if you like the Northmen and battles. It has those in plenty.
I for sure enjoyed Age of Madness and they are some of my favorite fantasy books and are a good edition to the first law universe, but I don't put them quite on the level as the OG trilogy and the stand alones.

For Sanderson I told my wife and friends to do
Mistborn 1-6
Warbreaker
Elantris (this is by far and away his weakest book. Its still a good book and there are elements in Elantris that pop up in stormlight)
His collection or short stories arcanum unbounded (at least get Mistborn secret history)
Stormlight 1-3
Mistborn 7 the lost metal
Stormlight 4
Mistborn 1-6
Warbreaker

I think somebody here is using the same library as me. Whenever I see a recommendation on here it ends up being checked out of the library by the time I can get to it. Chill, bro. I'm getting tired of waiting.
