Both?
I liked some of her chapters from "Oathbringer," (I think) when she met with people that were obvious Worldhoppers.

I really don't like her chapters and if I do - it is because of the other people in the chapter.
Also, Sanderson has broached this subject repeatedly as sort of a common complaint in multi-viewpoint fantasy worlds. He says that any time you have multiple viewpoints going on, a large portion of the fanbase will end up rating the viewpoints: Favorite, Enjoyable, Least Favorite, etc. - so the least favorite viewpoint character keeps getting pushed further and further down as people read the whole time just wanting to get through it and back to the parts they really enjoy.
I only really find that really happens for me on the first read-through when I am excited to figure out what is happening next. If i STILL hate a characters viewpoint on re-reads, it usually mean i just really don't like that character - So I will have to wait until I go through the series again to find out if I really hate Shallan that much or if she is just mildly annoying made worse-so because I want to skip ahead to better parts of the story.

That's probably a fair assessment of what's going on. The Kaladin parts were so damned good in the books.

Man people dislike Shallan a lot. She's fine with me I like her sometimes.
I do find myself wanting to skip the Venli portions though.

Also, in light of Shallan and Kaladin's increasingly apparent mental illness, and the mental illness of several of the Heralds...there's got to be a connection there.
I have a theory on the end of Book 5 since that will end one era, but I'll keep it to myself for now.

I'm with you there. Unfortunately, her POV is neccesary for exposure to important fused. I'm in part 4, and her POV has had several important plot points

I thought I'd hate her POV, but I do enjoy the 3rd faction appearing in the greater conflict as well as reliable insight to the Fused/Odium side.

I’m only in part 4 right now, I feel like this one will be better on later readings, just a lot of negative and a lot not going their way. Feels like it’s gonna be a downer ending.

1. Don’t like her as a “person” if that makes sense. But I also just don’t like the way Sanderson writes her.
2. Number one was compounded in Oathbringer with all her interactions with Chad Adolin. Reading them together is torture. The forced, 0-60 romance was torture. Adolin is brick wall boring. Shallan is teen romcom annoying without the ultimate charm. And she was kind of a count to Kaladin. The phony love triangle thing didn’t help matters.
3. Split personality is an interesting wrinkle at the start but can quickly grow tiresome. It’s much better in a visual medium like film. In text, I just can’t take it for very long.

I think with Shallan it's taken way too long to flesh out her character over the 3 books plus her early dealings with Kaladin didn't go over too well with me. If she had reached this point in early book 3 I think people wouldn't hate her as much. I don't hate her as much as most people but she is very low on characters I like.
I wasn't sure about the Venli pov but so far I'm enjoying them, she's unique from the other characters so that might be why.
edited to add I might stop where I am and read Dawnshard. I know it's not needed but I'm intrigued.

I'm getting towards the end of part 2, things aren't quite going how I expected them. Some nervousness about what's to come for sure.

I’m done, I’m not sure how I feel. It was good, but it wasn’t my favorite in the series. The payoffs didn’t feel as great as the last books. Lots to think about for the next 3 years and guess at what will happen.

I too am not sure how i feel about it. Having to listen to Shallan switch between characters far outweighs the payoffs. I have no ambition to listen to it again anytime soon. Just Meh!

Just finished my other book and likely picking this up today... I did follow along with the released chapters on for so it already a good 15 chapters in I believe

I just finished to. First of all, I LOVED part 5. Significantly more than the climax to Oathbringer. I thought every chapter was riveting, and progressed the overall plot at the pace, and in a way, that I would want it to.
That said, parts 1-4 were just ok, at best. Shallan's schizophrenia was a chore to read, Venli was only useful as a perspective towards the higher fused, Dalinar was almost non-existent, and Kalidan was 50/50 entertaining/annoying. Adolin's climax was very predictable, though it was written well.
It could have been a much shorter book, though I know that's not what we would have wanted. So he dragged it out. There are still very few books/series I would call better, but it seems like he's gotten to the same point Martin did with "A Feast of Crows". Stuggling to progress to the finish line. But then part 5 hits, and things fall into place. It completely makes sense why we need another Wax & Wayne before part 5. The Cosmere is finally coming together. But damn, it took a bit too long to get there.
All that said, I'm still very much looking forward to the next Mistborn novel's revelations, and I'm sure there will be some "short stories" in between. But books 1 & 2 of this series continue to be something really special by comparison.

Just finished and I think my favorite part of this book was Taravangian killing Rayse and ascending as Odium. Didn’t see that one coming.
Overall to me this one really felt like a getting pieces in place for the climax of the first arch of Stormlight archive in part 5.
Edit: I liked that Mistborn, Warbreaker, and Elantris worlds all came into play in this book as well.

Ugh thanks for the spoilers...
I'm just getting to part two and finally feeling submerged into the world of Cosmere again. I couldn't get into the groove, so I went and got cliffs and notes from 17th Shard to get back into the world and now Im off again. I think this is just bc there is so much connecting throughout all the series I had forgotten all of it and where it left off, but I don't have time for full re-reads of these stormlight monsters anymore.
