I think Dark Matter was a good book. I think Recursion was a great book. The rules for time travel in this book made it feel hopeless at times but dang was it a wild ride.
I read the first Wayward Pines and enjoyed it but haven’t gotten the itch to return to that series just yet.
Anyone else read these?
Any recommendations for other books?
Thinking of “3 Body Problem” Series maybe “Silo” series.

I thought it was a great idea for a book but horribly written.
No depth, no reason to care or even be interested in the characters. The box never really explained other than some vague reference about Schroedinger’s Cat
It felt like i was reading a screenplay.
Actually worse. It felt like Blake Crouch read the best sci fi book of all time and Dark Matter was his half assed summary of it.

Yes. Dark Matter was a bit thin. I think the idea was good. Felt like it should have been a series.
Recursion was much more fleshed out.

Dark Matter wasn't terrible. It just didn't grab me. Kind of a meh book. I haven't bothered with any of Crouch's other novels after that.
One of my favorite Sci Fi series. Once you get past the Chinese names, and understand who is who, its a wonderful read.

All of those are enjoyable.
But I would share the feeling I get with every crouch book -
The concept is great or excellent. The set up is as well. The execution goes in a different direction that I was getting pulled and I’m left both a little disappointed in where it went and a little happy that the journey went different that in was thinking.
To put it more clearly - his ideas are great and there are many directions he would go with the stories but I feel like the path they take, while good, was not one of the better potential paths. Almost like he has 10 steps to take and knows where it ends - steps 1-6 are great. But steps 7-9 aren’t. Step 10 is then great.
