They've been posting a chapter a week for the last 3 weeks in the lead up to the release on July 14th.

Not sure if they will continue all the way up to the release, but I'll take what I can get.

On my 3rd go round of the series, listening to the audio books this time while exercising every morning. My fatass is gonna have to jog a little more everyday to get done before peace talks is out

Not sure if I'm more happy that the next one is finally going to be out or that the followup will be released really soon after that.

Same here. My commute to work is an hour, so I knock out 2 hours a day. I want to finish these before reading this new one, because that mountain of data is jumbled in my brain.
Do you like Marsters' readings? While I feel he has gotten better (I'm on book 7 currently), he struggles with the female voices. They all sound like 7yo winy girls. It's cringe

They just posted chapter 4.

I think he does a fantastic job. His voices for the women are less distinct than his male voices but I think that's to be expected. Part of it might just be Butcher wasnt that great at writing women in the earlier books.
I finished Death Masks a few days ago and I think he really shined in that one with all the different accents. Can't wait to get to his reading of Changes.

Marsters is a national treasure.. He literally is Dresden to me.

I agree that he nails Dresden‘s snarkiness. My issue is when he does female voices his inflection is always bubble gum snapping excited girl talk. Other than that I really like how he has grown into the role
Regarding the new books I just saw that he has two coming out this year. This is the first I am noticing of this. Peace talks comes out in a couple of weeks, and then he has battle ground coming out in September. He must’ve had a big story to tell.

It was originally one huge book that he split.
I guess the female thing doesn't bother me because RC Bray is my favorite audiobook author and he's not great with women too.

So, finished it up a bit ago, was really short and more setup for the next book than anything. Pretty much like he split one book in half to make more money.
Would be pretty annoying if the next book wasn't coming out in September. At least the next book looks like it should be pretty good.

You reading it Green Chili?

My issue with it (no spoilers) is how sloppily it was split. It’s like the publisher rejected his manuscript and made him crash split it in less than a week and Jim went ham on the cut and paste and some events occurred out of original sequence.
Interactions with characters go through a bipolar tonal shift and the big climax fight seemed completely disconnected from outside events and just plopped in there to throw in a morsel before the end of the book.
I’m reserving final judgement until Battlegrounds but so far I’m not been impressed. Some significant world building happened but most of the character scenes were retreads of previous books.

Pretty much where I am at. We'll see how it looks after Battlegrounds, but on its own merits it's probably the worst book in the series minus the first.
And yeah, the shifts in how certain characters behaved towards Harry made zero sense, and definitely seemed like they were written in a hurry at different times. And the recycling of interactions and conversations from previous books was pretty blatant and seemed like a crapton of filler put in when he found out he had to make it two books instead of one.

Listening to the first one and he is terrible. Does he get better? He sounds like the editor didn’t get good takes from him.

I don’t listen to audiobooks (it turns to background noise that I don’t really internalize), but I’ve heard of so many people rave about Marsters.
The first book is a rough to begin with and he might not have gotten a feel for the character yet.

Yes, he get's MUCH better, even by just the second book.

His first read is awful. The sighs and gasps throughout are over the top and annoying.
Does he get better? Much. Is he a great narrator/reader? Not really. I think he nails Dresden, but he is not very good with the female characters. Their inflections are way off most of the time. He does a great job with Butters and TootToot along with other unique characters.
