I was also really not a fan of the very end (the epilogue, I guess). Without giving away spoilers, I don't believe that the character would have been as content with the situation as suggested by the book.
I loved the end. One of the better endings I had read in a while actually.
I'm not a big audio book guy, but this is probably the only case I can remember actually liking the audio book better than actually reading it. Narrator had me fully engaged the whole time, which is normally the issue when I'm listening to an audiobook.
****slight spoiler but not that much of a spoiler***
I like a happy ending. It had been a while since an ending had made me smile like that. At the very end when he said something like "Ok class listen up" and you realized he was an english teacher, I was like o hell yea that is awesome

Finished it this morning... I enjoyed it.
Anyone read/listened to his book Artemis?

Artemis was def a step below Hail Mary and the Martian

Yea, I wasn't a big fan of Artemis. It was perfectly fine, just nothing special.

The audio production is top notch
I’m one chapter in and was hooked after about 3 paragraphs.
I’m not even much into Sci-Fi but good writing and presentation is good writing and presentation regardless of genre.

I didn't read The Martian but loved the movie. I had high hopes for PHM. I liked it but didn't love it. It didn't seem all that serious to me but I don't read a lot of SF so what do I know. I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads
Read (or listen to) The Martian. So much better than the movie.

I just don't know why an audio book would be better than reading it yourself.

Film is now "set" for a 2026 release

More updates on the film.
Sandra Huller (Anatomy of a Fall/Zone of Interest) is an excellent choice to play Stratt, if not the best choice. She should have been nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress for the 2024 Oscars for her two roles in the films I listed.
Also, Greig Fraser coming off the heels of Dune 2. It will be very difficult for them to screw up this movie with all the talent they have assembled.

Finished this one in 2 days, couldn't put it down. Great book. I'd like to listen to it as well based on the feedback here.
